So this is bugging me.
DAT Destroyer #325 (2011)
Consider a sample of DNA that undergoes four rounds of replication. What percent of the double strand DNA produced contains part of the original-stranded DNA?
Answer: 12.5% which is the same thing as 1/8

So what i did was:

You start with 2 strands of DNA and go four rounds of replication 2[starting] -> 4 -> 8 -> 16 -> 32

I get:
2/32 = 1/16
But answer is saying 1/8. And this is frustrating... Which is the correct way???

The original double strand is yes a total of 1/16, however these two strands are not together... so 2 double strands have 1/2 of the original strand. it says has part of not total, so 2 of the 16 double strands have SOME original DNA.

Yes, it says what percent of the double strand dna produced, not the single strand. Therefore there are 16 double strands and 2 of those double strands have original template strands in them. Therefore, it is 2/16 can be reduced to 1/8. Hope this helps.
