hey guys

i was wondering if taking biochem I pass/fail would hurt my chances when applying to dental school? i understand only a few schools want it but i really dont want it to hurt my gpa(s).

what do you think?

You're right, most schools don't require Biochem but the ones that do will most likely not even count the course or at a minimum look down on it.

Take it as a grade and don't let it effect your GPA. Kick it's A$$!!!!!

definitely don't take biochem p/f. Rather drop it if u can, and retake it, biochem is a must. If they don't require it, they will look to see what classes u took, and if it was a hard class, how well u did.

no pass/fail it is worse than not taking it...
they will see that u suck at biochem..
not good sign...
study hard and get a's or don't take it if unnecessary
some schools need biochem...
like michigan... tufts

VCU will allow you to take it P/F but your prof. has to write a letter to the ADCOM after the class is over stating what your grade would be if you HAD taken it for a grade (so they see your "grade" anyway.) Maryland does not accept it as P/F in any form. Believe me, I tried to take it P/F but changed back to graded when I found that out. I do not like biochem so I totally understand your position but you might as well suffer through it because you'll have it twice as bad in dental school if all the biochem material is new to you while your classmates have seen it and studied it before.

hey i know UCSF requires biochem and i'm taking a course right and the name
of the class is molecular biology and biochemistry. I asked both my school
and UCSF and they both aren't sure whether this can fullfill their biochem
requirement. Do you know by any chance??
