Biochemistry Before or While Studying?

I know biochemistry is important for MCAT 2015, so I want it to be fresh in my mind while taking it. I plan on taking the MCAT at the end of May 2017. Should I take Biochemistry Fall 2016 (before I start to study for MCAT) or Winter 2017 (while studying)? I want it to be fresh in my mind, but I am not sure if I could really start studying before taking the actual class.

What's the downside to taking it in Fall 2016?

I studied while taking the class because I had to. It didn't hurt me and I was able to use my content review books to understand concepts. If I had the choice I would have taken it earlier but I couldn't.
