Hi,
I was wondering if I should take microbiology and biochemistry courses, are they "must-take" courses or else I won't accepted in anywhere.. because I'm in a situation where I have to wait to take those courses after I complete my organic courses which will take two semester which also means delay in graduation.. what should I do? I know it's only recommended but other than that, should I take those courses to get a better shot getting accepted?

pretty sure almost every optometry school that I know of requires microbio with a lab course. i think a few schools also require biochem (i know for a fact SCO does), but if they don't require it then it is "highly recommended". but you should check the specific schools you want to go to for their requirements.

Yeah I tried that and all schools say it is not required but recommended

Can you take summer classes? I did all my prereqs from start to finish in a year and a half (well, all the science ones because I already had all the others). Most schools let you take biochem after only one semester of organic. And I didn't know that micro also required organic - can't you take that after just completing basic bio?

It is required for most schools. Here is the link with all the schools and their pre-requisites.

Also, I think you will be a serious disadvantage without any background in it during first year.
