Hey guys,

My NBDE I is in less than two months and i'm freaking out while trying to study biochemistry and microbiology.

I was hoping someone would help me out by maybe telling me how to study for those two branches. The thing is, I don't seem to be able to recall much of what I study of those two. Maybe i'm just paranoid and it will all come back to me on the exam but i'm still freaking out nonetheless.

I'm overwhelmed by all the terms and names of enzymes, molecules..etc,etc.

Can anyone provide any kind of advice!!

Oh and by the way, i'm studying from the dental decks and the Kaplan review book which didn't turn out to be the easy reference I hoped it would be.

Writing things out can be very helpful for both of these subjects. For biochem, I wrote out ALL of the pathways and drew where in the body/cell it occurs and how they interact with each other. Then I'd make sure to focus on what are the rate-limiting steps and what enzymes control them and what conditions increase or decrease activity of those enzymes. Same for micro - draw out the bacteria, viruses, etc. Use different colors for DNA, RNA, and symbols for catalase, oxidase, LPS. Put an extra thick layer around your gram-negative bacteria and add another layer for ones with capsids. Draw Chlamydia replicating inside of a cell, etc.
