Hey guys!

So started studying for the DAT on Monday. Been doing Ari's 10 week study plan but will make adjustments to it as needed.

I am just slightly worried about Bio only because it is SO MUCH information.Right now I have been reading a chapter in Cliffs, then the next day reading back through it then going through Feralli's notes I have printed out.

Yes I am reading the information, though due to the sheer volume I feel like I am not retaining much. I have seen some people suggest not stressing too bad about Bio because on the DAT it is very broad and reading through Cliffs and Ferallis notes, making flashcards as needed is enough. Do most people find this true? When reading Cliff chapters I remember most topics from Bio classes but the fine details there is just no way.

Thanks!

After my bio review i felt like i retained majority (not all) of the material. It was during Destroyer where the smaller facts stuck with me more. I feel like its best to get a good appreciation for the breadth of material of bio during the review phase, but when it comes to practicing its when you hammer down the nitty gritty details. This is what has worked for me so far, but I haven't taken the DAT yet.

Make sure you have your fundamentals down and really understand the basic concepts! Everyone's biology section is different, and while I believe a part of it comes down to luck, if you get good at process of elimination and applying concepts to problems you'll most probably be successful 🙂 As for the straightforward detail questions, I don't remember getting anything too crazy that tripped me up. Those were usually you either know it or you don't, so continue reviewing cliffs and ferralis and try to retain as much as you can! You'll still probably get a few questions where you're like "WHAAAAAT DA HEEEECK" but if you've got a good foundation you'll have a good shot at figuring those out too!

Multiple reviews of the material you're using will gradually make stuff stick in your head. Learning biology for the test seems like an impossible task at first because of the scope of the exam but it's definitely doable as long as you keep reviewing. I found retaining things got a lot easier when I switched from doing purely note review to a mix of notes and practice questions.
