Yeah, a BS or BA in biology isn't too helpful when it comes to finding employment. It tends to be the degrees that follow that help with that. Are there any biotech companies or microbiology-related companies in your area? That's where most of my BS and MS-holding friends found work in my area.
its funny how you mentioned "BS or BA in biology isn't too helpful..." because I applied to a place that looked for graduates with a degree in biology and the response I got from the recruiter is that BMS is not considered a degree in Biology.......wut?
