What are everyone's thoughts on Dr. Garth Webb's "bionic lens invention".

Well your maximum resolution (visual acuity) is limited by the size and density of photorecepters, diffraction, among other things. It seems that all information related to the product's optics have been completely avoided (so that nothing interferes with the media sensationalism). I'm guessing that "3x 20/20 vision" (20/6.67?) is achieved with a telescopic effect. That 3x that you gain is lost by way of your peripheral vision, similar to the Implantable Mini Telescope for AMD sufferers.
