throughout my research this afternoon, I never found anyone who said they were "blanked" and then waitlisted...
With that being said. I am not saying that it didnt happen but I didn't find anyone who said that it did!!!

Thanks! ... Based on prior research, it definitely seems to be a "good" thing and if you're not "blanked," that does NOT mean you won't get in as stated by several others. It's so hard to focus on work... 4 days and 4 hours people!!!!
 
@ Avery: But according to the link you posted, someone got a blank from Harvard and didn't get in. In the poll posted earlier, there also was 1 person who was blanked and didn't get accepted. :S Granted, it seems like a very low %, it could also be that people who had blanks and got rejected aren't contributing to the poll/threads.

I'm w/ Mr. Beans on this and gonna remain skeptical until Dec 1st. Don't wanna get my hopes up for a rejection. eek!

The Harvard guy was clearly being sarcastic. As for the poll, when I looked at it, there was no vote for a blank & rejection. I might have missed this or someone could have placed a false vote in the last couple days for some unknown reason.

Nonetheless, you can never be too sure. If I had a blank from one of these two schools I would feel the same way. We'll all know soon enough. Best of luck to everyone.
 
I'm an OOS applicant for MN and my status is still "Invited for Interview."

I know I could be accepted without getting blanked... But I would feel so much better if I were! These last few days are taking forever.

If it's true that most schools don't give out rejections on Dec. 1st, it wouldn't make sense to be blanked for a rejection. Seems like blanks are a sure bet for acceptance.

I could have sworn that when I looked at the poll results on Thursday last week, I didn't see any votes for blank & rejection either.

I'm an OOS applicant with a blank status, but I'm definitely trying not to put too much faith in the assumption that it means acceptance. In any case, it sure adds some suspense that will hopefully make December 1st that much more enjoyable!

I am in the same boat :-( not being "blanked" is making the Dec 1st wait so much more stressful.
 
i just got "blanked" at the University of Oklahoma. I dont think they showed up on my AADSAS until today.

Hmm...mine changed as well, except instead of being blanked "All applicants who were selected for interviews." was added under "Status Defined" where previously there was nothing. Hopefully that doesn't mean I'm rejected!
 
Hmmm, not "blanked" on any of my statuses....keeping hope alive! :xf: Good luck everyone! Being at work tomorrow and Wednesday is going to be tough.

Keep it alive! Not having a blank doesn't mean accepted or rejection.
But blank seems to mean something. I know plenty of people who got in Dec 1st without blanks.
 
Similar to last year, do you think that a lot more blanks will start appearing tomorrow (Nov. 30)?
 
Typically Nov 30th is when theres massive blanking. Only a few schools have blanked people earlier than Nov 30th this year.

ME TOO!!! I assume early blanking is the same as Nov30th blanking. Just means we had an update on our status and its not gonna be revealed until Dec 1st.
 
I suppose it's possible that the blanks are appearing as decisions are made on applicants (which may or may not be related to interview date)....
 
I'm starting to wish i remained oblivious to all this speculation about blank statuses 🙂

Mr. Beans - When did you interview at Minnesota? You said you noticed your blank status around November 24th which is around the same time I noticed mine. I interviewed on September 30th.

I got "All applicants who were selected for interviews" for University of Oklahoma instead of the blank under status defined. I don't know if it was changed to that status or if it has always been that way; I hadn't bothered to check since my interview. I'm In-State and sort of wish I was ignorant about the blank = acceptance hypothesis. My level of optimism has dropped quite a bit after learning about blanks. Please tell me there have been non-blanks that have been accepted.

There certainly have been accounts of people not getting blanks, and subsequently getting accepted.

This cycle, I'm feeling that early blanks don't necessarily mean acceptance. :scared:

I know it's a stretch but...does anyone think that by now the AADSAS would have figured out that leaving a blank would be a dead giveaway if it did mean acceptance? I just hope they are going through things slowly and the blanking is just random. I don't think they are sadistic enough to go "Hmm...last year blank = acceptance. Let's change it up and make it the other way around. Muahaha." Let the mind games begin.

Obviously the waiting isn't doing me any good as I just came up with the ridiculous scenario above. The waiting is killing me! Does anyone know what the statuses say when one is accepted, rejected, or wait-listed after Dec. 1st?

In state. Interviewed in early october. Not exactly sure when the status change happened, but I think it was today.

Nope on Nova. I Interviewed on the very first day they were holding interviews and still show no blank (Invited for Interview). I'm a Florida resident.

hey! i'm pretty sure you're offer is going to be converted to an offer made dec 1st! because i got an update 11/29 too, but it was a rejection (i'm oos and i already knew i was rejected)

congrats on your acceptanceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
 
I tried to explain the blanking thing to my wife and she just laughed at me and told me that we predents are obsessed.

Either way I want a Blanking Blank! :xf::ninja::xf:

What did your update consist of? How did you already know you were rejected?

That we are:laugh: I've tried to explain the blanking thing to my friends and they just stared at me blankly (no pun intended😛)....

Read this about 10 minutes ago, checked AADSAS and wasn't blanked. After an anxious 10 minutes of rapid refreshing, Nova is now blanked for me as well :meanie:

try to relax prsndwg, i checked your predents and it looks like you have 4 other school to hear from on your list. some of us may not even hear tomorrow but will later on, some of us may get more interviews. its not easy though, im right there with you. chin up... :xf: 👍 :luck:
