Okay. I tried to find what exactly block schedules are but I couldn't.
SO... I just decided to write on my own.
Now I thought all the colleges and universities had block schedules.
I thought block schedules are like you go to same classes on monday wednesday friday
and different classes on tuesday and thursday.
Just like all of the colleges.

So can anyone give me clarifications?
thanks!!

In terms of pharmacy school, block scheduling means that you pretty much focus on one "class" at a time. You'll have the same class for days on end, with different lectures for that class from day to day or perhaps every few hours in a day, until that class is completed. Then you're essentially done with that class and move on to the next class. This is in contrast to the traditional system where you would take several classes concurrently for a semester or whatnot until you finish them all at once after one period of final exams.

One class at a time for weeks?? That sounds awfully boring.

The school I attended used blocked schedule. For example:

Spring (22 week "semester")
Biochemistry M-F 4 hours per day for 6 weeks
After biochemistry is done... Physiology M-F 4 hours per day for 8 weeks
After physiology is done... Neurology and Behavior M-F 4 hours per day for 8 weeks plus labs 2 days per week for 3 hours
Pharmacy practice experience 4 hours per week entire semester
Elective 3 hours 1 day per week for entire semester

The good part was that you really learned a topic. The bad part was that you really had to keep up. If you got behind studying on Monday, by Friday you were doomed...
