Does anyone know if the curve on part one changes that much. All I have is the 98 converter and I'm wondering if it will work on the older tests. I'm hoping it will give me a ballpark.

It typically stays about the same. You can actually get some heavy stats from the ADA website.

For the most part, however, that 98 curve will give you a fairly realistic viewpoint of where you stand. Generally, missing 40 will give you a 75, 30 an 85, and 15-20 a 95.

how many questions are on the board part one?

Edit: 100 per section

Can you also show me the source for the curve? I'm not questioning you guys I just want to start gathering this info.

Thanks for the link. Very nice paper

My goodness...how could you fail Part I??? I mean, there are sections where if you get 42 out of 100 right your score is a 75%

Am I missing something???

Nope, you aren't missing anything.

That's why it's easy to PASS the Boards, but pretty difficult to get a superb score. In my view, the Boards are arranged so that anybody who has a pulse and attends an ADA accredited institution will pass.
