I'm a good visual learner and a horrible auditory learner. My current routine is to watch pathoma/B&B and do Zanki. I don't retain anything while listening to Pathoma or boards and beyond and have to relearn everything while doing Zanki. Do you guys think I should look into books like BRS? I would appreciate any help!

This discussion begins and ends with sketchy, although I didn't use their path stuff. It's probably gold as well. I also didn't use picmonic but many people swear by it

Another Sketchy vote here. I just upgraded to their path videos (already had Micro and Pharm which were golden). The path videos are pretty long and I have watched many, so the jury is still out. For Micro and Pharm though, Sketchy has been amazing for a visual learner like myself.

On another note, I’ve found it a lot easier to learn material from class PowerPoints/lectures and then reinforce with supplemental board materials like Pathoma and B&B. Have you tried that instead of trying to learn everything initially from board prep materials?

Osmosis gets my vote. Youtube has a lot of their videos.

Has anyone here tried picmonic? What’s your thoughts?

Got picmonic first year, got sketchy early second year, immediately never logged back into picmonic again. Sketchy is far and away the only visual aid needed for micro AND pharm. Path wasn’t out yet when I took my licensing exams, but I’m sure it is amazing as well. Don’t waste money on picmonic.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up!

Thank you everyone for your input. As most of you suggested, Sketchy micro and pharm have been very good to me through out the years. And I just found out that Sketchy just released the completed Sketchy path series. I wonder if it is good enough to replace Pathoma entirely. I know people swear by Pathoma, but visual person like me can soak up so much more information through Sketchy method. So, do you guys think Sketchy (micro, pharm, path) + UWorld will be enough to do well for the boards? Or should I not risk it since it is so new, and stick to tried and proven UFAP.

If you truly are visual and the pathoma vids don’t do it for you, just use sketchy path and cross reference the topics with pathoma. If sketchy path covers the majority of pathoma you will be fine doing it that way. If there are large discrepancies, then use both.
