boards part I prep

Hi! I was just thinking about the boards part I and when would be a good time to start thinking about them. I just finished my first year but I feel like I should start some work before the summer that I take the board (which would be this time next year.) I know that many of you are naturally talented and probably worked hard a few weeks prior to the part I and got a 90+ but I was just wondering if anyone thinks it is worthwhile, or has already benefitted from, some early preparation.

Also, is there a kaplan program to sit through or do you only buy practice questions from them?

And review books, if i purchase one this summer, will it be outdated next year? (I guess I'm also wondering if the board is due to change anytime soon and be brand spankin new in 2008.)
