Hey guys, so I’m feeling a bit defeated right now and would like some insight. Normally I would say I would’ve done well in orgo (I got A- in orgo I), but due to some family problems, I didn’t prepare at all for my first orgo II exam and I got a 14/100. In my class, lowest grade is graded 15%. I have 2 more exams and 1 final (each will be counted as 25% because my first exam will definitely be my lowest). Homework is 10%. Do you guys think it will be feasible for me to pass the class and get at least a C? I know i would have to do extremely well on these remaining exams and I believe that I can. However with a 14 as the first grade, I’m not sure if my final grade will be even equivalent to passing even with great scores on the other exams. No exams are dropped and I don’t think this Professor curves. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Do the math. What are you likely to score on the rest of the tests if you give 100% effort and what class grade does that correlate to. Then calculate what a C or B does to your gpa and sgpa.

With that 15%, you earned a 2.51% automatically lowering your grade to 87.51% if you got a 100% on the next 3 exams and the homework. It would be kind of hard to get a B knowing you don't have room for error, but I would just suggest trying to finish as strong as possible. Can definitely still perform very well. Also, if this would be your first W, it wouldn't affect you dramatically.

Take the W. It’s much better to take a W than to HOPE for a C. ESP orgo 2... that final is a mess! Who knows what you’ll actually get. I’d hate to go through all that and end up with a C- or lower and have to repeat again regardless. Better to take the W and start on good foundation next semester.

That is true, I ended up with a C in Orgo 2 though and did fine on receiving some interviews. Thought it would've affected me in receiving interviews as it's a pre-req, but that's not the case.

I got a C in gen chem 2 cause I took it condensed in the summer and had no idea how fast it would actually be. Things happen, and there are only so many 4.0 kids out there haha

Drop it brother. I have several drops and a C or two and I've gotten plenty of interviews

I got a 13.5 on my first orgo 2 exam!! Not proud of it but it is what it is. I have my second one tomorrow and im much more prepared. I never drop any classes because you never know if something changes in your favor.
