Hi all,

I'm not sure if other med students experience this, but when we are lectured on a disease, the doctors often list the signs and symptoms without really explaining why we see them or what happens in the body that leads to them; They almost never explain the physiology behind them (for ex. nausea and vomiting occur in many GI diseases but it was never explained to us how or why nausea happens).

Are there any books that help you understand signs & symptoms on a more physiological level or in a clinically useful way?

uptodate usually has pathogenesis/pathophysiology (if it's known) when you search up the disease

Have learned to 100% ignore lecture & read Robbins, watch sketchy & pathoma/physeo. Robbins does a great job of explaining the mechanisms & it’s not that much of a mental leap to connect these to presentation
