hi guys

i know a lot of you have applied to boston university and i had some doubts about the applis and was wondering if you could help me out:

BU states "it is required that you provide your Dental School Transcript translated and evaluated (course by course). Please have one of the organizations below provide you with a copy in a sealed envelope, for you to place in with your application packet to BU"..........so does this mean we have to provide in the appli package a copy sent to us by ECE in a sealed envelope in addition to getting one sent directly from them???😕

i cant find the exact guidelines for the statement of purpose for BU anywhere!! does anyone know where it is??

ok thats all i can think of for now....😀 ....will come up with more as i go along.....😀

Nah, just one will do it. Either of them. They just want to make sure you didn't alter it.

I sent a photocopy of the ECE report along with the sealed copy because thats what they asked me to do when I called them up.

i sent notarised photocopies of all the documents they required by regular mail. i also asked ECE, TOEFL and ADA to send them original of the evaluations and scores. they will sart assessing your application as soon as they recieve notarised photocopies. they ask for the originals to be sentby the time you are called for the interview. they do not wait for the originals to assess your application, if you have already sent notarised photocopies. here is the list of the documents whose notarised photocopies you must send:

1. Transcripts
2. Dental school diploma
3. ECE general Eval report
4. ECE course by course eval report
5. Part 1 score report
6. Toefl Score report
7. Copy of visa

then in the packet you could also send a sealed copy of transcript, 3 letters of eommendation, photo and check of 90.

Call up ADA, Toefl and ECE to send originals to BU directly.

Hi,
you don't have to notarise NDBE-1 ,Toefl & ECE Evaluation Report photocopies.Becoz they will be getting the originals from TOEFL,ADA and ECE.it's only the other documents you need to notarise [ Visa,transcript and degree].you can sent the sealed copy of ECE course by course evaluation report in the application packet.ECE general evaluation report is not a must,you can put in a photocopy if you have one,but an official copy is not required.
This is the way I did it,and the school didn't ask me for anything else.

Did you guys order extra copy from ECE or WES? Since most schools ask notarized copy of ECE or WES copy, do we still have to spend $15 for each report?

I did not order extra copies...whenever i needed copies i requested them to do so and they would charge 15$ per copy thenand send them directly to the universities. Well i did my applications in 3 batches so i had to ask for copies 3 times. But it is difficult bcos to order more than one extra copy from ECE you can send a fax to them. For Toefl, you can order upto 6 copies on phone if you have school and institution codes in hand while calling. and ADA, the only way is to write a request form.
Also, i strongly recoomend that to be on a safe side always attach a photocopy of all the 3 things to your application process whether they ask for it or not and then mention that you have requested the concerned people to send an original copy.

dhee this has been discussed in another thread by sam3 and others. do perform a search. some schools dont mind a notarized copy of the reco letter and some require it in sealed envelopes and some require it to be less than a year old or so. best thing to do is to actually call the schools themselves to get first-hand info.

1 year old reco letter is just fine....i enquired with a few colleges like ucsf,usc and ucla and they have said that they didnt mind reco letters 11/2-2 yrs old....only uop requires that it be not more than a year old.infact upenn does not need recos also bu,usc,nyu dont have any such specifications......this is regarding the tim e limit of the reco letters.
whether they have to be be in sealed envelopes its best to mail them in writing or email them ur querry .hope this helps.

bu hasnt specified that they need a general eval report...but since most people have sent a photocopy of gen report....if u have one u may send it too....there is no harm in doing that....

hey does anyone who has applied to upenn and cwru know whether they accept notarised copies of ece course by course report or we need to send them an official copy?

also is it ok if we ask the ECE to mail us the copy and we mail it to the schools or do schools require it to be sent directly from ece...?does that really make any difference.....

hey giffy....according to ECE if u need copies of ur report to be sent directly to universities u can fax them but u have to pay $30 for the first copy and $10 for additional copies.....then how is it that u paid only $15 per copy that u requested from ECE.can u please tell me.?
...also the same charges r applicable everytime u request them for additional copies..

hey people,
i will be re-applying to boston u. again this time. i was asked to re-activate my application for september 2005 in august 2004. i was told by Dr. Ashayeri when she interviewed me that i would not have to send my credentials, etc. except for the 90 $ fee.

however i am preparing to give my national board exams again this time on the 12th oj july. i wanted to know what i must do if i have to send a new set of scores. if the application is re-activated everything stays the same. if i get a better set of scores how do i inform them that i am sending a new set of scores to them. will a new score report do ?

i have also started working so i was planning to send them a work experience certificate. In addition the last time, i had sent my provisonal degree certificate from the university and this time i will have the official degree certificate in hand. i want to send that across too.😕

if any one has any info please let me know

when u reapply....if u plan to pay ur application fees by check,with the check u can mail them a letter saying that u have retaken ur part-1 on so and so date and inform them that u will be sending in official scores from the ADA...
if u already have ur scores with u at the time u apply u can send in a notarised copy of the scores and also the degree cert copy all in 1 mail....

Firstly lemme apologise for the late reply but i was out of town for 15 days and had not been browsing. Well, I may be wrong in the amount that i quoted as most of the time i requested it by mail and only once i had to use the fax so whatever information is available on the website is accurate.

Dear Starwars,
It is not necessary that you send the ece report directly,you can send it along the application package too.
I have been offered a three year program at CWRU.
We were provided the instruments but if you want or if you are more comfortable you can take your own instruments too.
I have a long post describing my experience at CWRU,you can refer to it.

The patient pool is good and what I meant training as in something like Summer training at UPenn.
I will let you know the fee in a few days.Actually my sister in US is handling the affairs ..
In fact when my brother in law called them to asked something..they thought he was my husband!! 😀

hey u can ask toefl and ada to send in ur scores right away..
just make sure to call BU and ask them after 3-4 weeks if they have recieved the scores....
they will have it in their system and when u send ur application u just mention that u had sent a score request on this particular date.....infact toefl sends u a confirmation that they have sent ur scores to 'xyz' university...

go to the toefl website and they have a list of all institution codes....
i think one either institution or dept code is 38.....just confirm which one and find out the other....

do they accept notorised copies of transcripts....
we have to send in our transcripts to the ece for course by course evaluation and they anyway need a sealed copy of ece report to be sent to them......
so wouldnt that suffice.....i mean do they really need dental school transcripts ?
