Hi Folks,
I have my BU interview on the 19th of Feb.I guess most of you have already faced the interview..but is there any passive reader of the forum still left with his/her BU interview??
Would like to meet any SDN freinds there..🙂

applied in the month of oct but at that time my toefl score was really bad and so they asked me to retake the toefl exam. i retook it on dec 18 and got my result somewhere around jan 15.
part 1 85: toefl 270: gpa 2.5

I think they will be calling candidates for interview till the end of April..But don't worry you're acceptance letter must be on its way🙂

thanks pink tooth,i am certainly keeping my fingers crossed. i havent applied to a lot of schools this yr .so i hoping to get into bu.
else i might have to retake my part1.thr seems to be no other choice. i dont know whether i should risk applying for schools next yr with the same scores

it looks like the boston interview is at the *** end and i musy be oe of the dumb ones left to attend it when all the other people are already accepted. i am also very nervous. it looks lilke i may not be the only one coming that day. i see that ram is also coming that day. look forward to meeting him.

Giving an interview right at the end doesn't mean you're dumb!!! 😱 Don't worry, you have just as good a chance as anyone who gave it earlier.. Go out there and give it you're best shot! 🙂

Hi Lasjy,
Being called for the interview late does not mean you are dumb...please don't think that way..
They always have some seats open for good candidates,and the interview is the friendliest and coolest thing in the world ..just take yourself there!!thats all..

hey people,
i will not be coming for the boston university interview since i have been rejected a visitor's visa to come to the US at the chennai consulate on the 1st of march. they said they found no reason why i should go there just for an interview. i spoke to te admissions officer and she said she would arrange for a telephonic interview for the 8th of march for me.

all the best to ram and ketu for their interviews on the 11th of march. i won't be able to meet SDNers sadly

hey everyone,
i had my interview last night at my home in India. Dr. Ashayeri (the director) was supposed to call at 11 p.m. but called at 11:45 p.m. i was half asleep by then

She asked me what i was doing in jan and feb since i graduated in dec end. i said i was studying for indian entrances and had given AIIMS and kar CET. she asked me y i didn't take up a job and i said that most people were asking me for 6 month or 1 year contracts and if i had to get admission in august 2004 at boston i could not commit to such labour.

She asked whether i had done any crown and/ or bridge cases during my course. i said we had crown cutting and bridge preparation in 4th year part 2 and i happened to also do 3 cases of crown cutting in internship and one bridge too.

she asked about my hobbies and whether i am in good health right now. i mentioned that i had a kidney stone removed it which had been bothering me for one month which is why i did not work at a clinic in the moth of feb.

she said that my application came in a little late (jan 2004) . she told me that the average score so far is 91 while i am a borderline 86. she said that if i did not hear from them or get any letter for 2 weeks then i should reapply for next year. they are not giving any guarantees that u will get admission in Boston U. next year if u reapply. with her saying this i felt that if u get a score anything less than 90 its not worth applying to boston U.

she asked if i knew any student at boston U. and i said yes. she also asked why i wanted to join boston u. and i said lots of stuff about their simulation equipment and teaching techniques etc. she asked whether i had applied anywhere else and i said i got a rejection letter from U. Penn after applying there.

all i can do right now is wait. also if she is interviewing any one of you some things that she says may not be so clear. she has a slight arab accent so you try to be very receptive in what she says.

Hi Lasjy!! i was reading about your telephonic interview, this reminded me of a friend who had applied last year with 89, 263, 3.6, he was rejected visa at Delhi consulate .Dr. Ashayerri took his interview over phone , but when he recieved his rejection in march 2003 the letter mentioned that the interview is a compulsory part of admission procedure and that he had not fulfilled the criterion. 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕
But keep the faith may be this year they have come to realize that the consulates are refusing visas for interview and they might give you a fair chance

i hope they realise the crap that we indian have to go through to get visas to attend their blessed interview. i hope i don't get the same reply as your friend because if i do studying in america is out of the question for me. if i didn't get a visit visa this time then to apply for any other college would also be a waste of time. they all want personal interviews and i won't be able to attend a single one.

It was certainly not my intention to discourage you , i am extremely sorry if you felt that way , i only intented to make a point that the admission procedures are not very fair, there is no co ordination between the universities and consulates , believe me even i was refused the visa once to take the exam but was allowed the second time.Again i apologize if you felt hurt in any way

Not only Indians lasjy, pretty much anyone who's not from a rich country goes trough the same thing, some worst than others.

When can you try again to get a visa?? Is there a waiting period you have to pass first?? Maybe for the next time try getting advice from a inmigration expert, who can advice you on how to do well at the visa interview.

hey meggs,
going to a visa consultant was the 1st thing i did and that too 1.5 years ago. he did a very thorough examination of all my papers and told me what to do. i went to the consulate at chennai, india on the 1st of march to get a visitor's visa and they refused me. u can reapply after 3 days for another visa but the dates were all mostly full till the 13th or so.

my interview was on the 11th of march so there was no question of going for another visa on the 13th because they had mentioned on my interview letter of B.U. that the interview dates are not transferable. also it takes 3 working days for the passport to be sent to you by post. it amazes me how little the consulates know about the procedures of dental schools too!!

in addition to this my visa counsellor said to apply on the same grounds of going for an interview is useless because they will reject me on the same grounds was rejected earlier. also some dental schools clearly statre on their websites that they do not assist us in getting visas to appear for the interviews. what r we supposed to do ??

Can you apply for a tourist visa based on the grounds that you want to visit the USA just for fun???? or to visit a friend???

I know this is frustating at times......

i think they reject tourist visas also if you are young and single,lot of my friends applied for tourist visas and itwas rejected for them....the idea is that a young and single applicant is a potential immigrant

The people at the consulate are pretty unpredictable ,they might reject or grand visa to people for no reason.

She just tole me all the applicants remaining will be reviewed this week for the few seats left🙄

the whole of last week i was dreading THE LETTER

whn i went for the interview in bu i heard frm quite a few poeple tht bu had given early acceptances to at least 20 poeple last yr.
do any of u know any1 in tht situation?
if thts true thn,thr must be effectivelty only 45 seats for this yr. tht also explains y the interview was stopped so early. last yr it went on till april.

"early acceptances" What is that mean? Does it mean, that somebody, who right now waiting for letter about 2004, could be offered acceptence for 2005 in those days? How does it work? Thank you!😕

i dont know whether bu gives early acceptances every year. early acceptance means admission to the next academic year, not the present one to which u r applying,atleast thts wht i think it is.
one of my friends got an early acceptance for the yr 2003 in 2001 coz she was doing her masters here.
i had heard from a lot of people tht even for the academic yr 2004 , admissions were given out in 2002, but i personally dont know any1 like tht. so was just curious
