hi everyone

congrats to all of u on ur welldeserved scores!!

i wish to know whether anyone has applied to boston univ, and what is the interview process, is there any bench test, how competitive it is to get there?

it looks good to me as it is a two year program....

any further info will be greatly useful.....

thanks😀

its not very competitive....to consider ur appli u need to have 85 on part 1 and to have a high chance of getting in u need 90 and above.

there are other threads on the interviews in BU. they are not too harrowing.

Toothmail or anyone else

Do you by any chance know someone who applied to BU? What did they say it was like?

yes i do know some people who applied to BU but they all got into tufts so i dont know what their opinions on that school are. i have heard this info about BU admissions from someone pretty senior who spoke to the program director there 2yrs ago. might be different now.

and what is considered a good gpa rajkang? i have about 3.6 or 3.7 i think. and i hope i do well in part 1 in december. keeping my fingers crossed (till coming feb when the results will be out!!! )

hi!

I applied in boston uni. last year very late like in feb. i got interview call but on the day of interview they told all of us that we don't have any opening for this year, but you guys can reactivate your file for next year . So I reactive my file for this year waiting for something to hear from them. hey guys i have 240 only in toefl but good gpa & part-I score , boston uni invited me once for interview also , so my toelf score really matters as it is low then requirement. please reply me...........

thanks.
😕

could u please share ur gpa and part 1 scores with us great94089?

do u know anything else about BU interviews?

hi! rajkang & toothmail,

hey, tell me do they give importance to toefl.? no actually i don't know anyone in bu.
thanks.

i am sorry ....i have no idea about how they consider toefl scores at BU. if u have applied/reactivated ur files there anyway, why dont u wait and see. theres not much else u can do i suppose unless u want to retake toefl once more....but it would be too late to apply for 2004 then wouldn't it?

ya i think so it will be late.

thanks for reply.

Abt TOEFL, you should just have the mim score that is required by that school.

hi!

So do you think i have to retake toefl or its ok as its minimum score to enter in BU.

thanks.

hi great
could you tell me how you reactivated your BU application, did u send in a letter stating you want to reactivate or did u go online to reactivate ....😕

hi

could anyone please tell me how did they apply to BU ie through the online application form or on paper....i am confused as to which is better.... 😕

thanks🙂

hi! Shilpi,

I reactivated my application by sending a letter with reactivation fees of $ 90. & then i feel out application online again.
Marsh, as far as i know in BU we have to fill online application only.🙂

hi
i reactivated my only sending in aletter stating that i wanted to reactivate and also my reactivation fee was $60............i am very confused here anyone else knows how to reactivate boston applictaion

hi

to those of u applying now to BU.....

the appli deadline is march 1. does this mean u have till march 1 2004 to apply for the 2004 program?? thats a lot of time!

and since BU asks that ur name and ssn be written on the back of ur check for the appli fee, what do u put in if u dont have an ssn? is the itin applicable?

listen to me and my questions! i have another 8months before i even think of applying and i havent even taken part 1 yet! too much too soon????😀

Remember they work under rolling admissions....

hi!
To reactivate the application for BU you need to fill out the application once more online(even if u did it last year) apart from sending them the reactivation fee. There is a column in the online application in which u need to mention if it is a new application or a reactivated one.i got this info from the school.you don"t need send any of ur documents again.jus fill out the application.hope this helps

hi
i sent in my reactivation fee in augaust not knowing i have to go online to fill out my applicaytion again, onluy today i knew i filled it and sent it.but i am confused with this 1 and half month gap...does anyone know how to contact the people at boston university...they never replyb to emails...pl tell me how to get in touch...😕

hi shilpi
why dont u calll them up?
i feel its better to call them

Hi Henna,Meggs and toothmail,
My part 1 was 81% ,toefl 247 and my gpa 2.69(with combined repeated courses from ece)
Do I have any chance to get accepted anywhere?

really need good advices. started part2 preparation.
I don't know if those guys at ece do understand the grading system in france where i garduated from.
Grades in medical, pharmacy and dental school are completely different from any others schools in France.
the first year of medical and dental school is combined, and you have about 1,200 students. Only 10% get accepted in the second year. From those 10%, some students will choose to go to the second year of dental school and the rest will continue to do medecine.
If you fell three times, you will never do medecine or dentistry again in France.
And in dental or medical school 90% or above repeat one or more subjects in september(from june exams) in order to advance.
I hope you understand this system.(there is no multiple choice questions in any exams)

hi alino60

medicine and dentistry are both pretty competitive in india too.

i am really not qualified to give u advice on what ur chances will be on applying.

so all i can do is tell u what i know....

i know one or two people who have one or two points less than the required who got into tufts....they compensated by doing well on the other part ....example: part 1 89...part 2 89. since tufts requires both parts, they see if u r well balanced in both. but of course this person has done a specialization. the other i am not sure what spurred them to take that person in....no masters, average scores....maybe how u present urself and recos and other things matter a lot too! i dont know........

BU a lot of people get in with lesser scores esp. at the end of the cycle of admissions when they have spots to fill but i am not sure whether they have a score minimum at that point.

NYU .......people say u will get in if u dont get in anywhere else...am not sure how true this is. seems to me like if the rest of ur application is ok then ur part 1 score wont be the only consideration.

please do speak with the colleges and see whether they will consider ur application. also talk to people who have just got in and ask them what they think and what the stats for their intake of adv standing students is.

i havent even taken part 1....so i dont want to advice u wrongly.

all the best......

and yes....if u r up to it and feel u can take part 1 again and do better this time around, i think it would be a good idea.....(my 2cents)

Hi :

First of all I would like to thank everyone how is sharing his/her information whith us.In fact this forum has been one of the best sources of information to me especially regarding NDB and the advanced standing programs.

I would like to ask a question regarding the rolling admition process?does it mean that the sooner I apply the better my chances are compaired whith other candidates?

Let me put it in another way: if I got 85 in part -1 ,and applied this month.would it be possible that I might have a better chance than someone who gets 88 or 89 and applies next february??

😱

🙁

yes... rolling admissions.....the sooner u apply the better chance u have since they consider the applis at regular intervals throughout the application timeframe rather than at the end of the deadline.....so ur appli will get considered earlier before the ones who apply in feb....

all the best sam3!

taking these tests takes up so much of our time and effort- i really hope no one has to take it again!

Probably NYU. And in case you do go there, they'll coach you trough part 2. I'm saying this in case you want to be rather help with part 2 to get a better score.

Maybe you should write ECE and ask them about this. Also ask WES about this, and maybe you should also get an evaluation report by WES. Someone around here (I think it was "itsme") got both done, and the WES GPA was higher than ECE's.

By the way, what was your real final GPA in France? I mean your original GPA from France.

Luck!

Toothmail:
Thanks a lot buddy for your reply.I really appriciate all replies and suggetions in advance.I started to have some hope with my part-1/ 85 score.

I understand that it is not that copetitive score but you can't immagin what I have been through while preparing for part-1,in fact retaking part-1 is like a nightmare for me (though it is still a possibility ).The only thing that drives me back and maks me think a hundred times befor doing this is that I can't keep my 85 in case I did worse in the second attempt.

Good luck for you in your December NDB -1,and I wish you all the best.

😍

meggs,
in France there is no such thing as GPA.
The grades are xx over 20
you need 10/20 or above to pass each and every subject.
If there 10 subjects and you have 9.5/20 in one of them, you will repeat that subject in september. and if you don't make it in sept, you will repeat that year for that subject only no matter how good you did inthe nine others.
And to be a doctor ,you need to take close to one extra year after you last year in school to make research for your thesis. you will have the title of doctor of dental surgery only after you present this thesis in front of the chosen body(professors) with satisfaction.

wating for your reply.
