hi all,

i just wanted to start a thread for the boston waitlist. it would be nice to know who else in the same situation as me. aslo after checking the list made by mrinalini, i realised that they are many people who have been offered seats in BU and some other colleges. it would be really nice if those people could confirm where they are finally thinking of joining, that is if they do not mind. i hope i am not being too selfish.

sanju there are a lot of people who are getting into schools who dont contribute to SDN. so the statistics u are looking at here can only be accurate to a point.

do call BU and ask them when the latest is that they will let u know whether u are in or not. at least have an idea of what time frame has been offered to BU students if they want to retract their admission. also be aware of when the programs in other schools start - that way u will know if any vacancy is going to turn up in BU. dont be disheartened or discouraged. wait and see. i hope u get in. all the best.

ido u have to pay the deposit for school even if u r on waitlist?if so is it refundable?

i got my letter today .i am also in the alternate list. did u call thm up? did they tell u wht chances r thr to get in this yr?
 
hi Ann,

I called up BU this friday and spoke t Nicole. she said that they do not have any ranking for the alternate list ( and even if they do i do not think they will reveal it). she said that if there is a vacancy the committee reviews the alternate list and sends a call. So as of now, according to her we just need to wait for the acceptance letter if somebody drops out. i asked her what the deadline for the payment of tution is for acceptd candidates. she said that they need to pay the deposit in 2 weeks and the tution for the 1st year by july. so i think that we should not expect anything at least till july.

Hope this helps. i myself do not have any hopes for this year so i have prepared myself mentally about applying for next year. lets keep in touch regarding the alternate list.

i didnt get a chance to call bu coz i got my lerr on friday. i will call thm up on monday and try getting some more info. it wont be any different frm wht they told u.but its worth a try.

My friend at BU told me that they had a admitted 2 days after the program started.
 
they have online application. i think last time it started in aug. the exact date is in one of the previous threads.
i still havent mastered the art of searching for info here,🙁 .

hi all i just called bu. i dont think i talked to nicole. some other lady thr. she told me tht basicallythey would inform us if thr is any withdrawal. thrs no ranking for the waitlist. and they might just inform us only till mid july after tht its highly unlikely to get a call.

Hi All,
Spoke to Nicole..she said there is no ranking for the ppl on the waiting list and that we'll know by July if we got in or not.Last year 5 to 10 ppl were accepted who were put on the list.Guess we'll just have to wait it out.She did not tel me how many there were on the list.Think there are 6 sdners waitlisted so far.Good luck!

:laugh: :laugh: Just go the the menu on the right upper corner of the page, and click on Search. There you will have tons of options on how to look. It just takes practice. I've had people PM me asking for help searching something they can't find, :laugh: Sorry, I just think is hilarious, I'm not trying to offend you, 😀 :laugh:

Is alternate list the same as waiting list?? Keep hoping for the best!!
 
Gosh!How many ppl are they going to place on the alternate list!Looks like they have twice the number of ppl on the alternate list as opposed to the number of seats!🙁 Good luck to all of us!Hope we all get in😀 .

i was wondering whether i should call BU to ask whats happening about the alternate list or is it a little too early considering classes are beginning only on 19th August. what do you'll think. anyone spoke to Nicole recntly.hi pinktooth, did you hear anything from BU? Ann, whats happening with you? are you taking the part 2?

they told that we will come to know in 2 weeks
so its better to call them next week
and dr.ashayeri is on leave till 21. i dont think they wil decide withouth her
anyhow its left to you?

Hi,
My friend got into BU last year. she was placed in the alternate list too and she was notified on July 29th that she was accepted. Another classmate of hers was notified after classes started. So, i guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed till we r accepted!!

but they might be reluctant to call me since I don't have a visa 🙁

pink tooth,i think its time u demand for a reply. they cant treat poeple like this.i dont think ur visa status should matter to the school(u must be staying in us on a visitors visa right?). u might have problems getting a students visa frm the embassy , but the school doesnt care abt this. they have been known to give admissions to students who dont have a current visa to the us.
so i think u r fine in the aspect. mail thm or call bu and ask thm whts going on. most likely tht u might get in.they wouldnt have delayed so much otherwise. good luck 👍

No dear what I meant was that I don't have a 'students' visa.I am not allowed to study on tourist visa.
I tried to contact Dr.Ashayeri but she wasn't their in her office.I will try again..
Thanks Folks for your wishes but this wait is getting so long I 'll need to buy some anti-aging lotions from the market 😀

sorry folks...couldnt reply I was out of city for some days..
I still havnt recieved any letter from BU..
and I am not very hopeful about it.
I will be going forward with NYU...three years seems such a long time...

has anyone recieved any letter from BU?

I talked to Nicole about chances of admission from alternate list: she said its all luck; sometimes they have tWO to three seats and other times no seat at all.

SO BEST OF LUCK TO ALL THOSE STILL WAITING FOR BU...

is thr anybody else apart frm pinktooth and pooja who have not received anything frm bu?pooja ,since u have decided tojoin nyu, i think u should demand for ur result frm bu. u dont lose anything by doing tht. u should also let thm know abt ur decision to join another school. who knows u might get a positive result.
 
guys do have any count on how many are still on waitlist or eagerly waiting to hear from BU? I guess right now i see pooja and pinktooth.

check the list compiled by mrinal. i think thr r 8 waitlisted, i think not sure. how abt u ? did u apply to bu this yr or r u planning on applying for next yr. congrats on ur wonderful score in cbt. 👍

I haven't received any further communication from BU. I got a mail 2-3 weeks back, saying i'm in the alternate list. That's it. so, the waiting continues.......

85,3.25.Think you can find it all on mirnalani's list.Btw,do scores and gpa's matter once you are on the alternate list.Heard that they do not..but was wondering how we are picked off it though.Good luck.
