Both volunteering and shadowing?

For dental school is it required to both have the volunteering and the shadowing experience, or will shadowing alone suffice. I am planning on completing 100 hours of shadowing, not sure if I need to volunteer alongside that as well or not

It looks infinitely better to have both on your application. It partially demonstrates your life doesn't revolve around your grades and shows your commitment to better those around you (which you will need to display as a candidate).

Many schools look for dedicated, well-rounded applicants and volunteer experience speaks for this where shadowing or academic performance cannot.
