Branch Campus vs Main Campus

I have heard from people that main campus is much harder to get higher gpa than branch campuses. What you guys think of this?

I think main campuses provide more opportunities such as access to research labs and organizations. Your GPA is determined by a lot more factors than the location of your campus.

It could be true, but it depends. My main campus has better instruction and harder tests, but I prefer it. I took a few courses at a branch campus and found it easier in terms of GPA, but less enjoyable overall in terms of learning experience. Just get the highest GPA that you can at wherever you take your classes.

The MCAT is an equalizer if you're worried about an inflated or deflated GPA.

In terms of nearby hospitals and research opportunities a main campus wins out but with me personally I feel smaller campus helps with achieving higher gpa. But there are hardly any parties on branch campuses or social scene of any as compared to main campuses. Also less people. Can be boring as compared to other schools. From my personal opinion as a branch campus student.

From my direct observation, I can agree with that statement. My university has two other campuses and their science classes are a joke in comparison to the main university's classes. However, I feel like going to a smaller and branched university may give you the upper hand in things. Classes will be relatively small and a high GPA would be easier to maintain.

Agreed but sometimes I wish i went to the main campus or a bigger school with more people and party opportunity plus closer to city because sometimes I feel really lonely at branch. Didn't get in main campus but got into branch.

Actually a kid in one of my Chem classes said he started out at main and had low grades switched here at the branch and started getting almost all A's. Switched for that reason alone.

Is it possible that you can transfer? Many people I knew from the branched location ended up transferring to the main university after a semester or two. From what other people have told me, the branched campus (at my university) is very boring...there's not many student connections for clubs nor parties.

The organic chemistry classes at the branched university were very easy and tested on memorization rather than application. I feel like my main university has prepared me well for the MCAT as the classes really challenged me. I guess we will have to wait and see until I take my MCAT 😉

Considered transferring but don't know if I could handle the pace of main campus in terms of classes. Doing decent here academically.
