A while back, I made a post asking if bringing in baked goods for classmates would be considered inappropriate. I got a lot of feedback assuring me that food is always welcome and to clear it with preceptors/faculty if I was really unsure. I took this advice and ran with it and you guys were right--everyone LOVED it.

I'm hoping to get advice on a related topic. My school offers a lot of opportunities for shadowing as part of its curriculum, and I've been shadowing at the same clinic for the past few months. We aren't graded on our shadowing experiences in any way. I've just gotten to know the attendings/residents pretty well and I'd like to bring in some cookies or cupcakes as a thank you. I already asked the "lead attending" at the clinic, and he was extremely enthusiastic, so at least I know I'm not breaking any unspoken rule on that front.

Here's where the situation gets a little dicey:
I shadow with a few other medical students, and I don't want to come across as a "gunner" or unintentionally make them look/feel bad. If I do end up bringing in something, would it be alright if I just said it was from all of the students?
I'm also concerned about the timing, because I'm shadowing clinic for the rest of the academic year, and I don't want to accidentally offend or annoy any of the physicians since I'll be working with them. Should I just bring in something on the very last day of shadowing to be safe?

Any advice/input would be appreciated! Thank you!

If you are this worried about it then honestly I wouldn't bring anything in. Just write a card or something and send it their way.

You won't annoy or offend any of the physicians. If you're worried about how your classmates will view your actions, just send them a quick email the day before letting them know what you're doing.

I’ve never been disappointed when I find baked goods at work. Most of the time I don’t even know who brought them in. I just eat and thank the Gluten Gods.

OP should for sure list “baking” as a hobby on their CV. That would bump them up significantly in any rank list I made.

It depends on the school I guess, but almost all of my classmates would be thrilled if that’s what you’re worried about. We have a bunch of people who love to bake and every time they bring in food, everyone goes wild. No one gets accused of gunning or anything.

It's totally fine. Even when I worked w/ other students I did it all the time, I love baking and told them/the attendings that. I just told the other students ahead of time so I didn't blindside them.
And they all loved it.
If you want you can say "on behalf of us all" but I didn't even do that/everyone was fine
