Sixty million is just an outrageous number. Don't get me wrong, the deformity is unfortunate. And if the surgeon misled her about what he was going to do, or the risks inherent in the procedure he was going to perform, then there clearly should be consequences. Apparently, everyone else she talked to warned her of the risk of labial deformity but this guy said that wasn't a risk with how he was going to do it. So he lied. And he should be punished.
But sixty million? Are you kidding me? How in the world does anyone come up with that number as reasonable?
I wonder how many women who underwent FGM - against their will - and now have ruined labia could get some reconstructive surgery done with that $60 million?
This kind of stuff doesn't happen in Canada. Tort reform is sorely needed in the USA.
Sixty million dollars for a labial mix-up? That's insanity. It's a labia! You don't need a labia to live. You don't need a labia to work(even if you're a porn star!). No labia is worth sixty million dollars. I'd be hard-pressed to say it's worth one million.
So she suffered permanent damage to her labia. It isn't a frivolous lawsuit.
BUT WHAT KIND OF JURY hands out $60Million awards?
"Ten Million ($10,000,000) Dollars in past pain and suffering and Fifty Million ($50,000,000) Dollars in future pain and suffering."
Who's supposed to come up with the SIXTY MILLION dollars to pay her? I bet the plastic surgeon doesn't have $60 Mil sitting in his bank account. Probably his Med Mal insurance company.
What happens to the doctor and the insurance company then?
