I am trying to figure out if this is very good or mediocre? I am considering derm. but who knows what I may want to do by ms3-4. Just having a hard time looking at brown ranked in the 30's compared with others?

Are you a Brown student? (judging by the s/n)... The list looks ok, but it is clearly no Penn or Yale, both of which had exemplary lists this year... for its ivy status, Brown's doesn't seem as impressive as it could be. As for derm, clearly the home program filled all its spots in derm, but that's pretty much a given anywhere. For derm, look to UCLA with 11 derm matches this year!

Not a med student yet...class of 2012!....

I was looking at other schools rankings and was just confused because some schools that ranked higher than brown did not have as good match results...
by looking at the hospital affiliations (Harvard, Yale, Hopkins, UCSD, Columbia, ect.) while Brown has tons?

Brown is currently "growing"(cirriculum change and class size incr) and I think with them accepting more outside applicants, especially with how selective they are being, the match list will get better and better. I think the PLME program is too laid back (only need 3.0 undergrad) so the students come in with that laid back attitude ( some not all) and have not had to be "hard core." (Just my 2 cents)

We could tell you weren't in med school yet because you're trying to compare schools by looking at their match lists. That's why I noted that this topic is spreading from pre-allo. We don't debate stuff like this over here because a) we've already chosen a school so comparing our school's list to others holds no value, and b) we recognize that these lists have a lot more to do with personal choices and individual drive during school rather than the school we attend.

I am aware of that, thanks for stating the obvious 🙄
Just wanted to know how Brown did in terms of the thier match placements from med students
