1) Can anyone who has applied to Bryn Mawr and been granted an interview tell me how long it took them to hear back. Also, did anyone interview at the end of November, and if so, have you heard back? I'm starting to get concerned in a little impatient.
2) Aside from Bryn Mawr, Goucher, Scripps, and UPenn, can anyone suggest good one year post bac programs?

Thanks in advance and have a happy holiday!

I can't answer your questions, but I think I could add a question: Which postbaccs have linking agreements with med schools for placement purposes?

I'll have a go at your questions:

1) My application to Bryn Mawr wasn't complete until early November...received an interview invite in mid-November...interviewed last week...heard back from them this week (accepted!). I think I heard back so quickly because BM's holiday break is coming up and the staff there told us on the interview day they'd notify us in a week. I was really impressed with the program and the students I met.

2) When I was searching for 1 year programs with linkages to apply to, I found the following: Goucher, Penn, West Chester U, Duquesne, Tufts, Scripps, Hopkins, and Brandeis. I'm sure there are a few I missed (is Hunter 1 year?)...but most of the other programs I found were for URMs.

I guess my biggest piece of advice is to apply as soon as possible to the programs that interest you since many do rolling admission. I only applied to Bryn Mawr and Goucher--which I was also really impressed with when I interviewed--but both apps were mailed out in October (on a side note, if you are using ACT scores like I did, order them ASAP as they take forever to get sent out even if you choose the rush option...it delayed my app at both places).

Best of luck and hope this post helps.

Thanks so much for your response, blackadder. Would you mind posting your stats? Also, it seems that post bac programs look more favorably on individuals who have worked for awhile after UG rather than individuals who are currently completing their UG degrees. Has this been your experience as well?
Thanks again!

My experience with post bac programs has been pretty limited (only two interviews/visits) so I can't really say if they prefer people who have been out of school for a while or those coming straight out of UG. I will say that most of the people I met (other prospectives and current students) had some humanitarian/medical/social work/research experience. Some gained this experience while in UG and others after they graduated...some were paid and others volunteered. Also, everybody I met was very motivated (as one would expect) but at the same time very friendly and relaxed.

As many others have said on this forum, you should apply to any program that interests you...it's the only shot you have at getting in. Best of luck!

The Bennington post-bac can be done as a two-year (Four semesters; Summer break in between academic years) or a one-year (three semesters; includes a hellacious Summer). I did the one-year. It's not for wimps, but it can be a great experience.

I assume you're only inquiring about formal 1 years - as anyone can do their post-bacc in a year. Personally, I'm @ HES and doing mine in 12 months - it's a decent amount of work but very doable. The real problem with a 12 month program is finding time to study for the MCAT . . .
