I thought F stood for Flip My Burgers
B's on transcript = no med school?

Had semesters of all C's. Had W's galore. Had two F's in one semester.
Currently a med student. I DO NOT recommend this as a path to medical school. Your academic missteps are holes you will have to dig yourself out of. (For me it meant an extended multi-year post-bacc, a mountain of ECs, and a better than average MCAT)
But no, having academic blemishes doesn't eliminate med school as an option. But it sure can put a lot of work ahead of you to make up for it.

If B is so bad then why is it even an option?
EDIT: Also, what you said is not true. In the 0-6 PharmD program I'm in right now, the only requirement for advancement is a 2.7 GPA which is actually a B-.

If Bs are bad, then why is 3.6 the average GPA of students who matriculate. In order for the average to be 3.6, A LOT of people had to get A LOT of Bs and *GASP* even Cs. Stop trying to act like you know what you're talking about. 😴

Nothing, but he said "in the medical world it's either A or B." I figured that Pharmacy falls into the "medical world" so I used it as an example.

Zero to six PharmD means that rather than going to undergrad, getting a degree, taking the PCAT, and applying to Pharmacy schools, you stay at the same school for six years, starting right out of high school. The first two years of the program are preparation for the professional coursework which starts in year three, and the last (sixth) year is clinical rotations. After all that you get your Doctor of Pharmacy degree and can push pills happily ever after.
NOBODY who gets accepted into medical school will tell you they were aiming for a B in any class. We all were aiming for A+ and B is like saying I messed up, I learned my mistakes, I'll try harder.
We all make mistakes, but it is EXPECTED that everyone gets an A+.

i got onto this forum hoping to learn about the profession i am choosing as a college freshman and wanting to do research....maybe i am getting this wrong but its a shame to think that almost half of the people on here are as_holes....a simple answer to this question would have worked but after long grueling hours in class or on rotation it seems some people have lost there compassion...why so much hostility is it competitive or just that you are truely as_holes? i am against the healthcare reform, but i got a new idea for the assh_les, they get the pay cut and the money goes to the people who actually care about others.. now thats a reform if you ask me. to the mind reader guy, why? why be a smart as_? i know a thing or two about jokes and one thing i know is that there supposed to be funny...you arent...

I believe that most colleges won't allow a student to retake a "B." At least I know that the college(s) I attended don't allow it...
Besides, it is ridiculous to retake a "B" - the only grades one should retake are "C-" or worse.

I studied in college and did pretty well, but I gave up on premed during my sophomore year because, frankly, it was ruining college life for me. And you only get to DO college once.
So I majored in History and no more labs, yay!!!
Had a great college life and got some Bs and a C in Bio!!???
By senior year I started taking prereqs again, and finished them in a post bacc, with all As. Did research and volunteered overseas for a few months. Took 2 years to get ready to apply.
I had a great app process 2 cycles ago: lots of interviews, lots of acceptances.
Result: I am thrilled to be in med school and I love my school.
But I'm not gonna lie. Those grades (C and too many Bs) gave me barely a 3.5 GPA. That alone put a whole tier of schools beyond my reach (I got one interview at a top 10, my alma mater).
Does it matter? No. Would I do it all over again the same way? Prob not.
But just sayin.
[caveat: I went to H/Y/P, so they might have cut me some slack on the gpa that some others won't enjoy. Bt that's grist for another thread.]

good i have met yet another as_hole...whats your story parents didnt love you enough? maybe after a few cold ones your dad would slap you or your mom around a little, tears welling up in your eyes and all you can do is use that as your compass for your lifes direction?
maybe i would be considered that but i dont see the reasoning for everyone having to slam someone else, see its not fun and now youll comment back completely inaccurate just the same as i am sure my comment was because we are two people who never met, we dont know how the other is....maybe your playing fourm gangster in your cute dormatory, making up for you getting bullied in high school, how about yourr taking your relationship frustrations on everyone because your girlfriend left you because of poor performance and now you watch her walking around campus with her new TKE stud... im just saying who knows,in truth you bashers on this website should make a thread on how many people you have saved in your life or who has ever been happy that you would risk your life for theres... i could join it and bash you for what you dont know or havent accomplished...two years in the united states coast guard as an ASE (rescue swimmer) gives you new perspective on life and on how people treat people....your in the premed program probably for the money you imagine getting not for the passion of helping because you have yet to help anyone...am wrong so far? probably so.

As an M0, I can assure you having Bs will not hurt you. I had Bs all over my transcript, and look at where I am today. I am accepted into medical school. You will get there, too, perhaps, if you don't stress. 🙂
