has anyone try taking the PTCE (pharmacy technician certification exam) while working on an undergrad degree at a 4 year university?

i was thinking if i can teach myself the PTCE and get the certification i will be able to work right under a pharmacist and get the most direct pharmacy experience, that would be like the best EC.

Thats what im currently trying to do. I bought the Delmers review book and just got a job at longs drugs ~10 hours per week (cuz im keeping another part time weekend job). Im planning on just studying from the book and passing the test hopefully, dont think its thaat hard.
I just hope I get learn and get involved with the actual pharmacy related stuff by being a pharm clerk rather than just being a cashier.

So are you currently working in Longs drugs as a pharm clerk or just a regular cashier? how long do you think it'll take you to finish studying it and to take the actual exam? i'm trying to get a pharm assistant position at Kaiser Permanente (they dont require pharm certif.) dont know if i'll have the time to study for it. well.. good luck!

Well I just got hired 3 days ago and havent set up a schedule yet, which ill probably do today, so I dont know exactly what ill be doing. Yea I really dont have any time at all to study cuz of classes and other stuff, but it really doesnt look thaaat hard honestly. Just gotta memorize routine procedures and know basic calculations. Theres 3 tests per year and the next one is in July which will give time to study until then. Im planning on taking the week off b/w spring and summer quarters and cramming for the test in july. Youd prolly learn alot more at your clinical job at kaiser so stick with that. I hear of people paying thousands of dollars for these pharm tech classes and they dont even help at all. Just buy a book for 40 bucks and study that.
