Hi everyone. Since I have been seriously considering PT as a profession I was wondering if someone could answer my question. The school I am planning on applying to is a 3+3 program. At the end of your first year they will award you with the Bachelor of Science in Health Care Services if you complete the requirements. My question was what can you do with this degree. Could you actually get hired somewhere with this degree or possibly help pay for your education with this degree? Thank you

My university operates in a similiar fashion. Our DPT program has an "advanced undergraduate entry" option - 3 years of undergrad prerequisites and you begin the program your senior year. After completing the first two semesters of the program, you are awarded a bachelor of science degree in "preprofessional health sciences" - you then continue with the remaining semesters and upon finishing, receive your DPT. The only benefit to having this bachelor degree would be if you decide to drop out of the program after receiving it in order to apply to med school, PA school, or any other type of graduate program (assuming you meet the prereqs and have taken any necessary entrance exams). The only other use for this degree that I know of is just the benefit of having a college degree... I know of no degree-specific jobs in the healthcare field where this would be useful.
