I was wondering what you guys think about doing maybe a 7-question
block a few days before the real exam. I was thinking, how is this
really going to build your stamina. It will probably tell you "yea, doing
7 blocks really sucks" and make you not want to do much the rest
of the day probably. For people that have actually done one or more
days like this right before the exam, did it actually help you to stay
more alert during blocks 6 and 7 on the actual exam. I would think you
would get tired just the same.

Never heard of it.
For anyone that actually did this, were you actually not tired
during block 6/7 on the real thing?

I did that 5 weeks ago... interesting experience, and by the end I found I was taking a lot less time on blocks. I take the exam in 9 days.

Doing it a few days before your actual Step 1? Hell no. If you want stamina, put that time towards studying high-yield info, and use the extra to take some quality R&R time.

Too bad I'm procrastinating. I usually have a problem where I'm
finishing blocks too early, so I guess I don't need to do them
any faster. I was wondering for the people that did this, did it
help for alertness during the actual exam.

i seriously thought this was going to be a problem for me. the most i had every done at one sitting was 4 in a row. to my surprise, i really didn't struggle with stamina at all. i wasn't even rushing to get out of there as i normally did with class exams. i guess my nerves just kept me going and focused. in my opinion, you don't need to do it unless you really really struggle (as in, fall asleep)

I did an NBME + UWorld in a day to check my endurance and make sure it wasn't a problem. Definitely don't do it the week of your test... I was pretty beat the day after. But it was good to make sure I was appropriately using my break times and that I was able to keep myself from getting too exhausted.
