Business casual attire

For a number of my interviews, I have been told to bring business casual attire. I barely know what business attire is - can anyone help out here?

Keep it simple. Khaki pants, shirt with buttons, dress socks, dress shoes, no tie. A tucked-in polo may be acceptable, but if you're unsure, don't risk it.

Are these residency interviews or attending interviews?

If it's for dinner the night before I would agree on a khaki's button down shirt and dress shoes....
