So my school has a business casual dress code while on campus during operational hours. A few questions:

Short sleeve button ups: acceptable?

Button ups without tails/not designed to be tucked in: unacceptable?

Don't mind if I piggy back off your thread.

How about tucked in polo shirts and slacks. Acceptable or too casual?

Not anywhere close to an expert on this topic, but if I were in your situation, I would basically assume that you should be wearing something that you can wear a white coat over (minus the tie of course). So a button down shirt that's tucked in and slacks or dress pants with professional looking shoes. I think a short sleeve button down is probably acceptable but a polo probably isn't. You should be able to wear a tie with the shirt that you will be wearing.

Obvious answer is to skip class 🙂

As an intern I wore a Polo and slacks with my white coat daily. Slacks and Polo definitely is business casual.

Button up tucked in is always acceptable. Short sleeve is less formal but should be fine.

Slacks and a polo should be all right. Definitely fine in the west, potentially a little too casual for the east coast.

Would recommend against untucked button-up.

Are people allowed to wear scrubs to lecture? I imagine that would be much more comfortable and easier than slacks and dress shirts everyday... not to mention the time and money saved for dry-cleaning vs. laundering those shirts at home...
