Do you think it is necessary to buy textbooks so that they can be used later for MCAT studying or as study references?

I don't think so. Most textbooks go into waaaay too much detail for the mcat. You'd be better served with actual mcat prep books, in my opinion.

Go with the prep books. The only things I would use a textbook for is studying SN1/SN2, E1/E2 (-cA, -bA) reactions from orgo if you're really having trouble with it or somehow needed more practice. Then again, Khan Academy does a great way of explaining key concepts of everything.

company review books and online resources are your best bet.

I bought bio. Other than that no.
