BYU cheating scandal?

I heard from one of my classmates that there was some big scandal where a bunch of BYU students were caught cheating on the DATs. I was wondering if anyone could shed a little light on this. I don't mean to start a huge stink here I just am curious about the details.

I've never understood why some people put in the extended hours and assume the heavy risks in trying to gain an advantage through cheating. If this has happened like you say, then their medical careers are finished. No adcoms in their sane mind would allow a cheater into a dental school while having first hand knowledge of it. It's just too much of a liability down the road.

If only they would've put that cheating effort into studying for the DAT, they would have 19+ and be on their way. Instead, their futures are very cloudy right now.

Seriously! The place I took my DAT at had more video cameras than any bank I've ever been in!!

I call B.S. on this too. Not only would it be difficult to cheat on the DAT with the security, but honestly how many people take the DAT on the same day? When I took the DAT I was the only one in the room taking it. Everyone else was taking other grad school exams like the GRE.

Secondly, let's say a bunch of people actually decide to take the test on the same day, does Prometric actually let them all take it at the same time? It took forever to get set up before the exam, putting stuff in lockers and getting fingerprinted and everything...And then how do you cheat when the questions on the test are different for everyone? I had a hard enough time finishing some of those sections on time, no way anyone could work together on questions and still finish on time.

me too! i thought i was the only one. the guy next to me started laughing at me.

cheating doesn't always necessarily mean copying answers from a person next to you. i know of people who have had friends take the test and write down the actual test questions. this way the person has almost all the questions on the test before hand. this is why the test centers don't allow test takers to take the scratch paper home with them any more. just one example.

Uh. At risk of shooting you down you're in dental school by what, a month? A week? A couple days? The difference between you and the "wannabe" right now would fit in a thimble with room left for ice.
