Hello!

I received my one and only C- in undergrad right before I graduated. It was in the last part of a 3-course combined Vertebrate + Human Anatomy & Physiology course. I was wondering if schools would possibly overlook this C-? If I were to retake it, I would basically have to repeat the entire anatomy series again even though I passed the first 2 classes with A's.

My other stats are below:
OAT:
TS: 360
AA: 350

GPA:
3.42 overall

I have about 2 years of experience working in an optometry office and 30+ hours of optometry shadowing experience. I volunteered a lot at hospitals in undergrad, and I worked in a research lab for 3 years.

Please lend me some advice about what to do about this C-!! 🙁 I want to apply to SCCO, Western, Berkeley, Pacific University, NECO, & MCPHS.

Thanks!

You would only have to retake it if its a pre req requirement for the schools you are applying to. I would contact admissions office but I don't think you have to retake. Also your GPA is great and OAT is amazing! Just apply and you will get in no worries

If they require it, they will ask you to retake it. Make sure it’s listed as a “planned course” in the future when you are applying, especially to those schools that require it so they can somewhat overlook it on your application.

I had a one-on-one meeting with Director of Student Services at SCO, and he told me a C- would be acceptable. Not sure if that applies to all schools, but it's worth a shot if you don't have to retake it!
