C in Orgo 1

I unfortunately got a C+ in Orgo 1. I know it sounds arrogant to say so but the professor had a God complex and a C+ was the highest grade she gave out. That being said, I got an A in lab, an A in Orgo 2, and an A in Orgo 2 lab. Please settle my nerves because somebody told me recently that anything below a B in Orgo 1 is a dream killer for hopeful premeds. Is that true?

I would say going from a C+ to an A in orgo 2 is very impressive; I thought orgo 2 was way harder than orgo 1.

anyway, a few C won't kill anyone, as you might have found throughout this forum

One C won't kill your chances so long as your overall GPA is relatively high and keeps staying high

Whoever told you that is all wet. People get in with C+'s and worse all the time. Don't retake this class -- since you've already seen the material once, adcoms will expect nothing less than an A the second time around.

If the professor truly gives out nothing above C+, that should probably be reported to her department.

yeah going off of what is just said, it's very unusual that a professor gives no A's/B's; I go to a top 20 undergrad and each department specifies how many A's, B's and C's professors should give and they always give that many regardless of raw scores/percentages.

sometimes they make moderately easy tests where a lot of people get above a 90 and sometimes nobody gets above an 80. either way you should be graded according to how everyone does

One C isn't the end of the world. Just be strong in other areas.
