I was wondering if medical schools would care or be concerned about an applicant with a C or W in a course that has nothing to do with pre-med, such as computer science or engineering. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't fret. Engineering and computer science are some of the hardest classes any undergrad can take. If you're prerequisite science classes are solid, nobody would look down upon you for having a C or W in something that is both very hard and notorious for having painful curves.
