I'm applying to UoP this upcomming cycle and it's my top choice. I noticed that they say that it is "expected" that all students have a grade of B or higher on their website. Now my problem is that I have a 3.75 GPA, but unfortunately I screwed up my Ochem lab and ended up with a C+ ... (it's only a 1 credit course). Only time I would be able to retake it is in the summer and i'd rather not waste time to retake a C+, but rather get 1 or 2 summer courses squeezed in before i apply to boost my GPA some more.

Does anyone here have any idea if i need to retake my lab course, I was going to call them on monday but if anyone here knows from first hand experience it would be a sigh of relief to know earlier :scared:.

I wouldn't call on Monday, seeing as it's MLK day, and there's a good chance no one will pick up!

UoP does seem to be more about the well-rounded aspect, so while it will stand out, if you're flying high in everything else (volunteering a huge plus), you could be fine.

Let us know what you hear in the call.

I was accepted to UoP this cycle and I have a few C's and a D or two on my transcripts from back in the day when I was not focused/ill-prepared for college. My AADSAS GPA is about 3.0 for both overall and science, but I had a strong upward trend to finish undergrad and my master's.

Your overall GPA is strong and definitely above a B average. I don't think you should worry about your lab grade. If you're still worried, call admissions and see what they say, the admissions staff is very friendly and helpful.

I think you'll be fine, but if you are still wigged out, make sure that the rest of your application is strong (leadership, volunteering, shadowing, etc.).

Good luck!

Well I tried calling today and for some reason each time I was connected to admissions the poor girl wasn't able to hear my voice, gave up after the 3rd time. Guess I'll have to wait till tuesday, I'm in Canada so I totally forgot its MLK day.

I also went and talked to advising at my school and the lady there was extremely rude and condescending, all she told me was that there is no way they will let me retake my lab and that my university would not give permission for me to take the course at another institution. So I'd have to submit 2 different transcripts if I did retake it at another school.

no worries man. C+ in chem B my freshman year (at a "reputable" california four-year university, if it matters where i go to school), and i'm happily going to uop. you're in the clear for sure!

Don't even worry about it. Spend that time on a good/better DAT score if you need to.

Then spend the rest of the time conveying your desire to attend Pacific to the admissions office.

Then spend your time rehearsing the number of ways you can say "i love pacific". It goes a long way during the interview.

LOL. I've failed courses and gotten PLENTY of C's (not even C+'s) and when I interviewed at pacific, I was trying to explain my bad gpa. Then my interviewer looked at me and said, "well your gpa from your school isn't even that bad!" 😛 I <3 pacific
