Alright CA-1's... lets hear some things we've learned.

So, there are a few things I'm learning now that I'm starting to get into a groove, and have been lucky enough to work in a pvt prac hospital, a univ hospital, and an ortho hospital.
1. Nobody in the OR has any friggin clue what the hell we do.
2. Mallampati classes don't mean ****.
3. When things go wrong, and it hits the fan, I work better.
4. I love blocks.
5. I have no idea what university surgeons are doing when they have an IH boarded for 4 hours, and take 5.
6. I have no idea wtf is going on when I get an IH repair pt tubed, drop an OG, and the pvt prac surgeon says "alright, were closing up. (not quite, but close)
7. I really like my job.
8. Some days, and I have no explanation why, I'm all thumbs in the OR.
9. Some days, again no explanation, I'm a durned ace.
10. PA's are invariably hot.
11. Has it really been 3 mo's😱
12. Mountain dew has no business being an over the counter substance... seriously. You could eradicate narcolepsy with that stuff.

You are tubing your inguinal hernias?! 4 hours?!?!

At the pvt we LMA, and at the univ we tube' em cuz, yeah, some may drag a$$ for a long time, although I may have exaggerated a bit.

We did an incisional hernia repair recently. THe INITIAL surgery took about 4.5 hours. On extubation and movement to the gurney, blood was oozing from suture line and abd seemed to be enlarging. We rapidly reinduced.

The mesh had actually failed, not at the tissue/mesh interface but in the center of the mesh. The attending surgeon had never seen it.

We spent almost 7-8 hours on that case!

I agree with nearly everything above.

I am a Mountain Dew guy myself and I need to set the record straight.

Diet Coke - 34 mg Caffeine
Mt Dew - 55 mg
Starbuck's - 100-160 mg

MD doesn't deserve the reputation it has when compared to the average cup of coffee.

I'm just saying...

omg!
y'all are some serious speedfreaks!
this would be me on any of above listed drinks.
