CA Northstate Interview

Does anyone know if students who attend pre-candidate pharmacy schools can work as an intern at local pharmacies? In other words, if CNCP is granted pre-candidate status, are the students allowed to work as interns at pharmacies in California?

Touro students can. However, the school must send a letter to CA board of pharmacy asking for local temporary accreditation.

Hi Ethanol

Did you ever call the RX manager at the local KP to ask them if its possible to intern? YOU NEVER GOT BACK TO ME lol... anywayz see u at work

Methanol. 😀

Does anyone know if CNCP has local accreditation or how does it work??

I was wondering how many of you will attend CNCP once this school gets the pre-candidate status?

wouldn't it be harder to find a job or apply for residency if you graduate from a lesser known school?
I would rather wait a year or 2 and reapply to other schools than attend CNSPC.

As far as working in a retail pharmacy, from what I hear from the pharmacist I work with, it really doesn't matter where you graduate from. As for residency, I don't know 😕.

Thats what I heard too! it doesn't really matter where you graduate from as long as you pass the board exam.

By the way, CCdarling, are you planning to go to CNCP if they get theire pre-candidate status? 😍

does anyone have a working phone number for the school that they can post for me. all the numbers listed are disconnected.

The numbers are not disconnected 😕. I just called the main number on their website and it worked. It's...(916) 631-8108. GL.

Actually it is accredited locally by the The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Check the link:

http://www.calnorthstate.org/page.aspx?pid=11

We are talking about them getting temporary local accreditation by the CA board of pharmacy because they need it for their students to have intern licenses since they won't have accreditation status by ACPE. Pre Candidate status is not adequate for CA board of pharmacy.

I am sure if the school get pre cand from ACPE, CA board of pharmacy will allow their students to become interns. But they will need to ask for local acrreditation because of the the requirements of CA board of pharmacy.

omg thank you so much... its so weird though.. cause i've been calling them and it was saying it was a disconnected verizon phone number and i even had my friend call just to make sure it wasn't just me...

anyways thanks 🙂

I would call and make sure they have received anything you sent! Did you just apply recently?

hey ya, for those who applied already, where did ya get the info/ format to fill out a CURRICULUM VITAE resume?

did ya just mention college stuff, or do we include high school stuff too?

did they mention how many students they were going to interview and admit? 😕

I GOT MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER TODAY!!!! Interviewed on 3/10 Monday @ 12:30PM.

For those still applying and waiting, they will interview 200 students for 80 spots, with people already on the deferred/waiting list.

I'm not quite sure how many have interviewed so far, but interviews are still going on! Each interview session they conduct has 6-8 interviewees...so don't lose hope!

Good luck!

I think its most relevant to mention college stuff...though there is no restriction to what you can put on your CV/resume. If you think your high school experiences (volunteer, pharm related etc) can increase your chance, why not?

I just found out about CA Northstate today. Is it too late to apply? The deadline is April 15. What are some of your advices? Thanks

To answer your questions...

1. The Sacramento address was just their temporary location. They moved to their new permanent location in Rancho Cordova at the beginning of Feb. I think they have their mail set up where everything sent to the old address will be forwarded to the new address. Just call CNCP in a couple of days to see if they've received your app.

2. My resume was a little more than a page.

Good luck 🙂

I plan on attending CNCP, but I will wait until June before I ultimately move there (after the precandidate status is official). I am having my brother who is a real estate agent here in California look at housing for me. If anyone is looking to buy, PM me and I will give you more info.

Oh ya, I will probably need roommates, so pm me if interested =)

Good Luck with everyone else who is still applying ...

As for resumes, mine was only a page ...

hey 3434
Which part of the OC do you live in? I'm in the SFValley area! haha Anyway, I might be interested in housing, but I'll let you know...

Hey I have my interview next Friday and I am out of state.. just found out two days ago and tickets are super expensive... If I interview first week of April, I will save $200 for my tickets. Do you guys think I should forget the money issue and go for my original date of interview. Would changing my date to a later date hurt my chances of getting accepted and knowing sonner? Please help!! so confused!! I wanna get in, and save money!! 🙁

The realistic and non-PC answer is:

If your stats are good enough to get into most pharmacy schools and you got interviews already at other schools, so you know your stats are decent, then reschedule your interview for a cheaper fare. CNCP is unaccredited and many people with good stats aren't exactly knocking down the door to attend, unless....(multiple reasons given in my previous posts here)

If your stats are not as good and CNCP is pretty much your last shot because you figure they are an unaccredited school and easier to get into than other schools, then I would pay the money and interview earlier since they are rolling admissions, there's always an advantage to interview early and $200 is worth paying to get into a pharmacy school.

for those who have already been accepted or recieved an interview, do u know how long it'll take to get an interview after you submitted your application? thanks

Around 2 weeks to a month.

I'm asian also and I'm about 90% sure that I'll attend CNCP...but once June comes around and CNCP officially obtains pre-candidate status, it can very well be at 100% 🙂

I am also asian, VIETNAMESE baby, haha. Anyways, as I mentioned before, I very much look forward in attending CNCP. For those of you who have already been accepted and decides to go, I also look forward in being your future classmates. Hey Pre-Pharmgal, let's be study buddies, hehe. Later.

Sure! That's a great idea! lolz

To those of you who want to go to CNCP. Wouldn't you rather go to a new school like Belmont or Lipscomb that has a really good reputation and would probably not go wrong or screw you over, as opposed to a independant new school like CNCP that could potentially screw you over? I'm debating between the new schools too. I'm just curious why people are choosing cncp over schools that are just as easy to get into but still have a better reputation.

just got back from seeing the new building. My sister had her wedding in the city over, and so I got a chance to visit it. It looked really nice, but I only got to see it in the dark 🙁 couldn't take any pics. This school is going to rock!

I think everyone here is aware that CNCP is a yet unaccredited school and there's a possibility that because it's an independent for-profit school that isn't affliated with any established school or university, that they could go belly up or whatever. But the main draw is that the school is in California, while Belmont and Lipscomb isn't. Location is probably the biggest factor why someone would choose CNCP over the other new schools. And the fact that it's the easiest school in California to get into. People who grow up in California, like to stay in California, it's just the way it is. I would not choose a highly ranked out of state school and attend CNCP just to stay in California. It also makes it easier to get licensed, since the school will specifically teach for the California Law Exam. Also, if the people on this thread were worried about school reputation, I don't think anybody would attend CNCP or any other new school, so that's a moot point. 🙂

hey guys,

for those of you who have has been accepted, can u tell me your interview experiences? how long did it last? what kind of questions did they ask? how are the admissions committee? do they seem friendly and stuff? i am waiting for an interview..and i really wanted to go there..

Everyone here is aware that CNCP is an independent for-profit school that is not affiliated with any established school or university, this make them potentially dangerous but also unique. Not many is aware that CNCP has its own pharmaceutical factory, that it plans on becoming a research institution following a hands-on curriculum that will emphasize less on lecture but more on practical experience. Their curriculum will incorporate mandatory research projects and students will have the opportunity to gain experience thru conducting experiments with one of their professors. How do I know all these obvious things...weeeelllll…it might be because I actually went to the interview, and I'm willing to wait until June before drawing conclusions.
.
My reasons: as I mentioned above; the big what IF they can accomplish their top-tier vision, come close or even influenced by it to strive for the best; the class of 2012 will be the first, not just of a class of a new program but of a new school; if they succeed class 0f 2012 can be proud of the rare chance to be the first to be there when it begins and start what hopefully will never end. Of course this come with an expensive price, a big risk and a grande what IF they fail. If AACP doesn't grant them pre-cand status (the hardest process) come June I will simply not listen to any of their "falsely assurance," (HICP) and have all summer to think of something better to do with the $500 dollars that they better return to me.

.For those who got accepted read the last two sentences of your acceptance letter. "Again, we appreciate ........... As you know, ........," Dean Hawkins. That, I think is what attracted me to the school!! 👎thumbup:....👍
