We're having our cadaver memorial service next week, and I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions for songs that could be appropriate to be sung at the service.

Please don't try and be funny...I've already thought of the funny ones, but they're all horribly inappropriate.

If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks!

Kinda depends on what you want to portray in the song but here are a few general suggestions. I have many more suggestions than these, but again, it kinda depends on the mood you are trying to set.

my personal selection would be Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (or Rufus Wainwright version)

Coldplay - see you soon

Rascal Flatts - Stand (pretty powerful when played at a memorial service)

Tim McGraw - my old friend ???

Hanz Zimmer - you are so cool (instramental)

'Hurt' peformed by Johnny Cash (NIN cover). Powerful.

Thanks gang. I think we've got something figured out...

Besides Hurt, we were also considering:

Zombie by The Cranberries ("what's in your head...")
Like a Surgeon by Weird Al
DOA by The Foo Fighters
Cuts Like A Knife by Brian Adams
Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi
and, Patience by Guns N Roses (patients...get it?)

Unfortunately, people think those might be in "poor taste" or "offensive" or something...so someone is writing something, and if that isn't very good, we're going with The River by Garth Brooks, Hero by Mariah, or If I Had Wings (my favorite, by Hootie, I mean, Darius Rucker).

You're joking right?? If I was at the service for a family member and they played most of those songs i'd be mad. I think it is intended to be more like a funeral instead of cheeky fun.

Of course I'm joking...lol. But it would be funny...but so very, very wrong.

Hey! If we can solve any problem
Then why do we lose so many tears
Oh, and so you go again
When the leading man appears

Always the same thing
Can't you see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you

Go on and go free, yeah
Maybe you're too close to see
I can feel your body move
It doesn't mean that much to me

I can't go on sayin' the same thing
Just can't you see, we've got everything do you even know we know

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you, oh
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you

I can't go on sayin' the same thing
'Cause baby, can't ya see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you

I was unaware med schools even had these types of ceremonies. Very cool/respectful imo.

Touro CA had one when I was there. The cadavers were creamated, had a little ceremony and some of the ashes were released (sent, put, thrown, tossed? I don't know the right term) into the san fran bay.

Bodies by Drowning Pool. You're welcome.

lmao

I should have thought of that. I saw them play at Ozzfest (with the original singer) just as that song was getting huge...the pit was the most insane thing ever...
