I am utterly bored right now, so I thought I'd start a new thread. Lets post:

1) Ideal Step 1 score:
2) Realistic Step 1 score:
3) Field of interest:

I'll start:

1) Ideal Step 1 score: 250+
2) Realistic Step 1 score: 235+
3) Field of interest: Ophthalmology

It'll be somewhat interesting to look at this thread once we get our scores back....in 7 months.

Realistic: 220
Interest: Radio (maybe mammography), Derm, or some Medicine specialty (oncology?)

I tried my best to not think of Step 1 until today, and I succeeded. Now, however, the time has come for the pain to begin. And that's when I stumbled upon this forum.

Sign me up Saib, there's no turning back.

Ideal score: A Lot (if my left nut's in the offing, it best be)
Realistic score: Somewhat less than that
Field of interest: Similarly undefined...

add me to the club...i just signed up to take good ol step 1...april 13 :eek:

my ideal score: 260+
realistic (if i work my butt off): i'd like to say 260, but i have no idea...
specialty: cardiology (intl med)...in california

i'm sooo scared, b/c i'm not a naturally gifted testtaker and it seems i have to work 50x harder than most people to retain things. i'm also pretty much right around our class average in terms of exam scores. so it's going to take a lot of hard work...but it's nice to have some support here - all of us are going through this together. :)

what's everyone doing over break? anything? i'm trying to get motivated after 1 week off from school. it's this dark cloud hanging over me at the moment...

it would be nice to have a 250+. cuz then i can feel special for a day.

but in the end, all that matters to me is to pass by a sizeable margin. I'll let my investment skills and luck get me my wealth.

i can't believe it's time already! i'm actually kinda excited to really study for this test although i've done far less than i wanted on this week off.

ideal score: 260, why not?
realistic: who knows? only God.
field of interest: PEDS! w/ likely a subspecialty afterwards. . .slight interest in psych, derm (ha ha HA)

i wanna do well mostly not for the sake of residency ( i mean, peds won't really care) but more for personal satisfaction.. .and also cause my pre-clinical years have been tumultuous. . .i'd like to kick off my clinical years with a happy bang. :)

hehe...its all good playa...u don't only have to learn the jaundice pathway of unconjugated bilirubin...we all have many things to learn from each otha school and non-school related...it will all make us betta doctors in tha end...BELIEVE THA PLAYA :cool:

OKay, I want to join up too.

I'm not too sure about my estimates for scores. For the MCAT before I came close to taking it I knew my goals, but everything is so vague about what the scores for step 1 really mean I don't know what to expect. Also although I've always been a good test taker I've also always been a bad student and my studying has not improved for med school so I'm going to have to work way harder for this than I did for the MCAT just to learn everything I should have been learning these past few years, which is very scary for someone that has never studied effectively in their whole life. That being said I've been purchasing my reveiw materials and plan on starting to try to ease into studying by teaching myself to study for my regular exams and adding in the reveiwing as I become more accustomed to the whole idea of preparing for tests ahead of time.

Right now I'm guessing my ideal score would be like a 230. My realistic score considering my lack of applying myself so far is probably somewhere between just passing and 200. My interest is most likely in peds so I'm not too worried about needing a high score although I am concerned about the possibility of failing.

For those who haven't started reviewing for Step 1 yet, please follow this forum closely and start gathering as much info as possible. Start getting the right review books (that includes the 2006 FA) and question books/banks. Go Cobras!

Sorry guys for not keeping this threat updated and alive. We're in the middle of neuro, OMM exams, and boards studying so it's been kind of crazy lately. If it was up to me, I'd just be doing boards studying all day, everyday. Unfortunately, theres something called "exams" that keeps getting in the way. Errrr....

Guys, I'm sure anxiety levels are slowly beginning to rise as we begin our preparation for Step 1. Let's promise ourselves that we'll remain as "human" as possible and not forget to help each other out. Difficult times will put our patience and our character to test. We must remain strong.

Let's not forget about the people who supported us and helped us get where we are now. Our family, our friends, and our SO's. I'll be honest. It will be tough at times. But we shall prevail. For we are ONE and we are STRONG! Go Cobras! (I think I just found a new hobby. Motivational speaking)

I'm aslo keeping my mind open on specialties, but my list includes EM, Anesthesia/CCM, Rads & Electrophys.

Hey guys,
I hope studying is going well for those of you who have already started. I'll be starting boards studying in a few weeks, and I'm debating whether or not I should buy Kaplan USMLE Step 1 Lecture Notes series (the green and white cover) or any of the other Kaplan series.

I have all the review books ready (BRS Path, BRS Physio, HY series, FA, etc.), but now I'm not sure if I should just go with Kaplan. Does anyone have feedback on what you think about Kaplan vs. individual review books?

Bumping this up. I'm on day four out of my 35 days of studying. I feel burnt out from the three weeks of finals I just had and I'm finding it a bit hard to get going. :(

Neuro makes me want to put nails through my corneas. :scared:
