Can a community college class be HARDER than a colleg university course?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Maybe if you would stop opening so many pointless threads and spend your time searching, you would already know these answers. I have no problem answering questions, but seemingly you just open threads with stupid questions that have already been covered numerous times

I have taken about 40 hours of prereq at a CC, and so far for me it has never happened.

At a CC in Sac, ARC, there is a professor there who also teaches at UC Davis, a nationally top ranked university. She does not change her syllabus or her exams from the UC to the CC. That seems to be a qualitative "proof" that there are at least some difficult courses at CC and I'm sure she's not alone in that.

Once again it's going to be regional, though, with a CC in Nebraska maybe not being as difficult as a CC here in CA.

You don't need to answer my questions.

what is the search function

lollerierz. the search function is located at the top right of the page, so please search before you start a thread.

I had a (former) friend who was in the 0+6 or whatever program at my university, and took OChem 1 and 2 at the local CC because she was scared it would be too hard. The OChem at the CC was so disgustingly easy compared to the university. And it got her into the pharmacy program. That made me mad.

Alright gotta quote this one! 🤣

Hi, welcome to SDN.

I took chemistry at a very competitive public university. They are currently ranked top 15 ... I was not able to get A's. I am not saying chemistry at a university is harder, it really depends on the university. The one I went to was accelerated (quarter system), large, populated, competitive and there was limited help available and the help available cost a lot of money.

I then took chemistry at a community college and I was able to get A's and B's. However it was not easy A's, it was hard but it was slower paced and help was available for free.

Personally, I feel as if I learned more at a community college but the competition was definitely not there.

The down side of taking classes at a community college is that some graduate programs do not honor certain classes from a community college. This year I was asked to retake 3 classes or to withdraw my application because I had taken them at a community college and not a 4 year university.

I honestly think it depends on the student's learning abilities and the school's approach to teaching.

College algebra at CC: Students starting=30.
Students at midterm=14
Students taking final=8
Students passing=4
First and only C= Possibly one of the most
relieving moments of my life.
On a side note, he also teaches at a four year.

this has to be one of the silliest questions ever. common sense dude. depends on what colleges you're comparing. harvard vs bubba community college. hmmmmmmm

I bet everyone at Harvard gets an A in the class 😀.

stop filling the board w/questions to reassure your insecurities. be more confident in yourself instead which would help you so much more in your pre-pharmacy track.

+1....I agree. You have been posting ALOT of random threads which seem to convey your insecurities or fears about school. This I can't blame you for. I'm scared myself about starting school in the Fall, and if I'll be smart enough compared to other students, etc etc. Do you need to use the search function more, because most of your questions have already been answered? Yes....But, you seriously need to get some confidence. Just being part of this board, and asking so many questions means your more concerned/prepared for what lies ahead compared to 75% of the other student population applying with their blinders on. Good luck to you....

Maybe if we don't respond in his threads he might get the picture. I think we are all tired of telling him to use the search function.

when did you or anybody ever tell me to use the search function beside this thread?

This is great. What's up with different logins, though? Forgot to log out of someone else's account after hacking into it?

Well, for one, in your thread "What GPA do you consider low to apply for pharmacy school?" Regardless, if someone like you says he/she is so addicted to SDN, the person would have seen plenty of people asking people to use the search function for common questions. Furthermore, he/she would have seen a white box at the top right that says "Search SDN..." or the Search tab as pointed out in a previous poster's screenshot.

Anyone ever taken a course at a cc or uni? retaking it in cc or uni and found cc to be harder or uni to be easier?

thank you.

in general, CC's are easier. but it can depend on the professor, some can be tough. why not right?

in general, not all four years are created equal. some schools are definitely easier than others. i went to a top-20 and took summer classes at my state school. state school was a breeze.

please read and take a closer look at the screenshot. it's quoted from a different user.

Yup. 😛 Thanks for fielding the question!

That's how I found that screenshot!

Are you serious? Do I need to compile a list of all the threads you made where everyone been telling you to use the search function?

DELANO, NOBODY has ever mentioned the word "Search Function" in any of my previous threads.

and you guys do not need to gang up on me. I won't come to this website again.

You guys must find it very fascinating doing these to people. wow.

I can't believe this website is filled with smartasses. You are supposed to help people in here.

Relax bottlecap...In the future just use the search function for your inquiries first. I learned the hard way too. It just gets annoying when the same questions are being asked when they were already discussed.👍

I don't understand. So people are supposed to keep SEARCHING until they get the answers they are looking for? If you don't feel like answering someone's thread then don't answer it. It's that simple. No need to be a bunch of *******s.

Honestly, some of us aren't trying to be *******s. Yes, it gets tiresome to see threads of the same or similar questions over and over on the first page when they have been answered in some sort of fashion. This is why we ask others to search first. If it's a special/different case scenario, we are more than happy to try to help. If it's something about community college vs. university, for instance, there are lots of those topics around. I think this is somewhat fair to ask..

Being a student at a CC that has never taken any classes at a university I really could not say if it is harder or not, but I can tell you that at my CC there are a lot of quality professors whom really try to prepare us well. My chemistry professor this last semester was probably the best teacher I have ever had. I say this because his personality was so enjoyable that he made you want to attend every lecture and lab, and I know some students who are waiting summer/fall semesters to take his gchem II class spring '11. He also teaches at a university during the summers.

His class was not that easy, we had a quiz and a ton of homework every week. He only gives a midterm / final which is quite stressful because you only have about 1 hour and 15 minutes to finish them and they were quite long, consisting of 10-13 free response questions and 25 multiple choice questions which did involve calculations. I know that many students did not finish his midterm or final but he is very generous with partial credit and curves. I know that if he did not curve our midterm/final only 4 people in the class of about 120 would have gotten A's.

Everyone told you about the search function. Maybe you should read all the million threads you made in your failed attempts to search for the search function.

Shadow Rx you can go **** yourself. You are probably just a nerdy kid with 100 cm thick glasses who go on this forum 24-7 making fun of people with your genius brain filled with vocabulary words. I am pretty sure I could beat your smart ass if I see you. Just because you are a pharmacy student, it doesn't give you the right to be a smart ass

if 1990 in bottlecap's SN is his birthday, then let's all remember how we were at the age of 19-20, posting on forums. i know i probably wouldn't have thought to use the search function lol.

I think bottlecap1990 is trolling us all, I mean this can't be for real... but if you are,

You gotta grow up man, and you need to show some professionalism if you want to get some back. And when people aren't respecting you, don't take things so seriously. You say you want to be a pharm tech? IMO, you should take a step back and work on your people skills a little bit more. As a pharm tech, you are going to encounter people treating you like crap all the time and yet you have to be able to keep a calm composure and control your emotions.

I also think it shows real immaturity on your part when you threaten to beat someone up over the internet and call people "nerds." Who cares if people are nerds anyway? All you are doing is making yourself look bad and you are losing any respect that you once had. So maybe you made a little too many threads, and were a tad bit annoying, who cares? You were getting so much information and help from people here and you at least got an idea of what people thought about you. But now you have made a complete 180 and you are only digging yourself a deeper hole and losing any respect you once had. I recommend you reevaluate yourself, take a good long break from this site, and if you want to return, come back with a different attitude (and possibly a new screen name).

My 2cents.

When I joined the forum a year ago I didn't know as well but after a few people telling me to use the search function, I did so that's all were saying.

Why did you guys keep going on and on and on and on about using the search function?. Yes that is my birthday. I am 20 years old. You don't need to tell me to work on my people skills. I have encountered many customers that are worse than you all and I never took them seriously. I have only gotten into an argument once with them and I was still able to resolve the problem without saying or doing unprofessional thing. I am a mature person. What I don't like about some of these people is that they think they are the ruler of the world just because they are in pharmacy school and that they can say whatever they want and start disrespecting people who just started using this thread.

Why the hell you keep telling me to be professional and respect other people when I am not treated the same way? I mean once or twice is ok but when almost all the post i get is about making fun of me then am I supposed to just take it and be "professional"?

"losing respect that I had" ? LOL. I have never earned any respect from nobody in the first place even though there are one or two that were actually helpful and just answered my threads.
What is the point of having this website if people can't open up threads? Why don't we just make some rules now that will limit people to open up threads.

I love studying about medicine and that is why I want to be a pharmacist. I am serious in studying to become one and so far I have gotten all A's ( I am not trolling and I will post a picture of my transcript if you'd like).
I am not trying to disrespect the profession but GUYS calm down, It is just pharmacy. You are not making millions of dollars a year. You don't have to act like you are the king of the world and be disrespectful to people.
