Can a school I'm waitlisted at see where I have selected PTE after 4/30?

I am accepted to a few schools and one of them gave me a big offer, which I specifically mentioned in my LOI to the school I'm waitlisted at, saying that I was planning to enroll there. Can that school see if I end up choosing PTE at another med school on Thursday? And if so, could it impact me negatively in terms of getting off the waitlist? Thanks!

I was also curious if it’s good (or not) to mention another acceptance in a LOI?

I always thought it was good to mention it sort of as proof that I'm not just desperate looking to get in anywhere. Like "hey, I have other good options and I still want you the most!"

If you have PTE school registered in the system, is that a disadvantage towards getting another offer? Should you remove the PTE school before Ap 30, but hold the spot with a deposit?

As gonnif said earlier: "Speculation on something that you cant impact, that you cant change does nothing. How any school will use this info is up to the school and there is no answer"

Don't think too hard about it. PTE at school A, hope for the best that you get off the wait-list at school B. In the worse case, school A rescinds your offer because you did not PTE and you do not get off the wait-list at school B.

True

The absolute definitive answer is: it doesnt matter. Speculation on something that you cant impact, that you cant change does nothing. How any school will use this info is up to the school and there is no answer

Ok, thanks! I was hoping that there would be a clearer answer to this but clearly there isn't. I guess I'm just hoping to not look dishonest by PTEing at a school that wasn't the one to give me the good offer since I already used it sort of as leverage even though I don't really want to go to there now. Lots to think about in the next 19ish hours, lol

So I did PTE to one school and am holding waitlist offers. I got an offer from a waitlist school on May 1st and I know I have 5 business days to accept or decline.
But Does my PTE school know that I received this offer on May 1st and that I have 5 days to think about it? Or do I need to inform my Previous PTE school that I have another offer?

Your PTE school doesn't see the offer, and you're under no obligation to tell them about it.

No and no! The enforcement mechanism is that by next Friday you have to drop your existing PTE and PTE to the new school. If you do this, you will lose your seat at your present school; if you don't, you'll lose your new seat. Easy peasy. No need to inform anyone.

Thank you guys so much for clarifying!!

sorry if this has been asked im just a little confused and want some clarification, can schools you are waitlisted at see if (or where else) you are waitlisted at if you have planned to enroll somewhere? or can they just see that you are planned to enroll at a school

They can just see that you are PTE elsewhere. No school can use these reports to identify any other school (WL, PTE, CTE, etc.).

Apparently the school I am PTE at sent me an email saying if I get an acceptance I have 24 hours to tell them the name of the school and how long I have to decide

Okay, but they have no way to enforce that unless you tell them, since they can't see the WLs, won't see the As, and have no way to know if you receive another A or how long you'll have to decide unless you tell them. It's understandable why they want this information, but providing it is totally up to you. I'm sure they sent that e-mail to everyone, and not specifically to you because they can see your WL. 🙂

@gonnif and @Goro can chime in and reiterate how we are so lucky that the schools allow us to send them money in the hopes they will even read our applications, let alone provide us with the opportunity to become MDs. If the schools were entitled to this information, the system they are all a part of, AMCAS, would make this information available to them, since it is all reported to AMCAS by the schools themselves.

They intentionally built a system masking this information to avoid the appearance of collusive conduct, and then they pressure us to give it to them anyway so they can get a better view on which PTEs are at risk of not enrolling. I personally think it is beyond obnoxious that the schools pressure, insist, request, cajole, etc. us to provide them with information they are not entitled to, under the threat of a rescission, when they have no actual means to compel compliance other than our paranoia (helped along by the dire warnings @gonnif posts on an almost daily basis) and desire to do the right thing and play by the rules.

lol. They wouldn't be able to enforce this. They can't see anything other than that you PTE'd to their school. What's their CTE deadline? I'd be more concerned about that. I'd hold out and see if you can get a financial aid package from the other school.
