about the amalgam condensation question the answer is for sure spherical alloy.larger condenser means less pressure , larger surface which is the case for spherical alloy(they set faster than other amalgam alloy) The question for TMJ the social factor related is stress ,which is closer to sociopathy than depression.the question about fluoride the anser is skeletal tissue.

hi,
the TMJ disorders the answer is psycho social .... there is a psycological problem involved......
thus i thought deression could be a major manifestation of psycological problems..🙂

sociopathy refers to sociopaths....Sociopaths are characterised by certain personality characteristics, including personal charm, selfishness, impulsiveness, lack of guilt or anxiety, and cruelty. The sociopath usually has some history of minor misbehaviour in childhood, which often becomes "deviant" during adolescence. In adulthood a significant proportion of sociopaths become criminals. They may be distinguished from most convicted or known criminals

in this relation TMJ disorders is more pycological ..not associated with sociopaths.......
just my thoughts....

Yes Toothie you are right.I was misleaded by the question which refers to behavioral problems mostly in term of symptoms than causative factors.Depression is a symptom often found to TMJ dysfunction patients although not well documented as causative factor. So the correct anwser is DEPRESSION.For more information see the site, which is very enlightenig. herkules.oulu.fi/isbn9514266021/html/x152.html

wow, thank you for the answers. i'll be posting some more tomorrow. hope you guys can help me answer again.

Hi toothie

OK I don't have Studevent and no way of getting hold of one. So I take your answer. BTW can you also briefly tell me the Studevent explanation.

Thanks for checking.

Answer in the question paper is marked "B". I'd also like more explanation on this one. Thanks!

Quoting from studevent - page 289 , 4th Ed

" The outline form must be visualized before any mechanical alterations to the tooth are begun. occasionally extensive caries , fractured enamel and other conditions may prevent an accurate preoperative mental visualization at the onset of tooth preperation.
with the principles governing the outline form as a background, this preoperative visualization of the outine form acts as a detterent to overcutting and over extension, which may cause weak remaining tooth structure and an unesthetic restoration.
thus , it is very important to pre operatively assess the proposed tooth preperation extensions before mech removal of any tooth structure."

hi ,
another doubt,
where there is a differnce in answer to question and text book

In the preparation of a cavity for restoration with composite resin, all cavo surface angles should be:
the answer is right angles...
but in studevant is says obtuse angles(beveled cavosurface) is better as it increases surface area for adhesion and as the micomech adhesion is the basis of retension , more the surface area the better , except on root surface cavities where the cavosurface should be 90 degrees...
any thoughts as to what the answer should be.

Hi Toothie.the answer you are talking about for sure is not right angles. All angles(on the outline ) for composite resin restorations is 45 degrees because of the beveling.(see dental decks) Right angles we have in amalgam restorations.

u are right 90 degrees is Amalgam but in the ASDA questions the answer given is 90 degrees for composites.
in conventional composite preps it used to be 90 but now its preffered to be beveled . and the angle is obtuse not acute..... i dont think its 45 degrees.
in case of root cavities , the angle is still mainted as 90 for composite.

can anyone help me answer my 3rd post? thanks.

hi guys
its obtuse angle in case of composites
gag

any thought..??
