Hey guys, I signed up for weightlifting this semester, and I really dont want to finish it. It is only 1 hour of credit and a PE credit at that. I will still have 16 hours this semester, and I have already been accepted to UT San Antonio Med school. Dropping the class will not jeopardize my acceptance will it? I may just be paranoid, give me a little feedback, should I call the school and ask or talk to my advisor?

If you drop it, med schools will obviously reject you for being such a girlie-man.

Especially the California schools. Arnold does not approve of girlie-man doctors.

If you drop the class, you'll never be able to hide the bodies after botched intubations. Better get those corpse-movers pumped up.

Are you nuts -- you need to double up on the weightlifting now, because you won't have nearly as much time in med school. That means muscle wasting. At least if you get your lifts up into the stratosphere now, you will still look average (rather than outright wimpy) by 4th year. And since looks matter - you will undoubtedly be able to land a better residency. So don't gamble with your future. 😀

please tell me this is a joke

Ummmm.....no one will care that you dropped this class. You are being a little paranoid on this one. Trust me, it won't matter. But in my opinion you should keep it because this is the last time you will ever be able to take a class like this. There's plenty of time for muscle atrophy ONCE you start medical school. Bulk up now when you still have free time 😀 The nurses will appreciate it.

No doubt. And it's only 1 credit (so the class meets for 3 hours a week or what?). If you aren't willing to put in at least that kind of time now then by 2010 you're gonna look hella soft. But given your attitude I think it might be a little too late.... awww.
Oh well, it'll just leave more ladies for me. Thanks! But I'll be thinking of you, holistic, and the sacrifice you made so I can get my mack on.

Darn it, desiredusername, you stole my answer. But yes, OP, if you drop the class we ladies will not be impressed.

You like women, too? I have a feeling we'll be fishing in different ponds, though, so it's still cool.

For all the ladies on SDN, I will not be dropping weightlifting, as a matter of fact I just hit the gym for a few bench presses, bulking up for the hot female doctors, nurses, dancers, and elementary teachers out there.

Dont hate the player, hate the game. 😎

No, no ladies for me. It would appear that way, though, from the way I phrased my post. My sincere apologies for the confusion.

And of course, my main exception to the no ladies thing is Frances McDormand in Laurel Canyon. Wowzah.

which school is this where you can take weightlifting as class? I dont even think we have a PE department.

A future physician who doesn't believe in physical activity. Hmmm 😎

Really? That's weird. At the U of O I used to take rockclimbing, belly dancing, running, etc. PE classes are awesome. 😛

we can take classes like that at the school gym, but they are just recreational classes, and not for credit. I got the impression that the poster was talking about a real course.
