Can I get a LOR from a non-science instructor who is a PhD candidate but not yet a professor?

For context- I developed a good relationship with one of my instructors in my philosophy class. We met up weekly outside of class to work on an independent project together. The class was medical in nature so I feel as though he would be able to speak to my ability to reason through medical scenarios in a way other professor's I've had could. He has offered to write the letter but wants to make sure that this won't hinder my chances of getting into medical school. Before I accept his offer, I wanted to make sure.

Is there a professor who this student works under? Unfortunately, a letter from a PhD candidate is inadequate. However, you could absolutely have a letter from a professor that is written by the trainee who knows you better.
