After being informed about receiving a 4-year HPSP, my recruiter wanted to receive my final decision as to which school I will be attending. Although I got an acceptance to my 2nd top pick school, my first choice has waitlisted me. If I get off the waitlist, can my scholarship be revoked if I change my decision to attend my first pick last minute? My recruite told me that they have deadlines and that changing the school on paper would be difficult to do. It would be great if someone can give me some advice. Thanks guys!

My dad would always say " Pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered".... Now that I am older it still is a super weird way to say dont be greedy. You are in an amazing position and to possibly throw it all away is just not worth it. Im about to graduate from dental school and I have meet people from dental schools all over and IMO they are all the same and it doesn't matter. You have an acceptance letter, school paid for, guaranteed job, benefits, and so much more. Take what you have and I promise you it wouldn't matter in the end. Good luck!!

I appreciate your feedback. The school that I am currently accepted to has an extremely high cost of living and attending the school means I would have to live at home with my family who live near by. However, I would spend roughly 3 hours on commutes each day, which I believe would eat up a lot of potential study time. I want to attend a school that I can afford to live near campus so I could spend as much time as I could succeeding in my courses. The military is making a large investment into my education and I would like to be the best student/dentist I could be so I could deliver results to the best of my ability.

Then find a cheap place to live and don't waste 3 hours a day commuting.

My recruiter told me I could change the school any time up until I sign the commissioning paperwork and swear in. He said I would be able to change it even after the scroll was approved.

I got accepted to my number one choice and my recruiter changed it no problem. I would definitely try to get your recruiter to change it asap, but if it doesn’t happen then worst case scenario you attend the school you’ve already been accepted to

Go with your number 1. They’ll resign you. They recruit hard during all years of med school.

This is your life.

Well, I'm going to dental school but I guess the same applies. Thanks!

This is bad advice. The services get plenty of recruits from prospective dental students. Once in school, your chances will go way down if you try starting over.
Must be different on the dental side. Listen to your bretheren, OP.
