I took Physiology Lab and Lecture at UC Davis and got a C- in both. My school's policy doesn't allow me to retake the class. Seeing that most PT schools don't accept a C- grade, I want to retake it at a community college. However, I heard that this rule applies to all community colleges in California also. Is that true? If yes, what can I do?

Start by speaking with the department at the UC. They may allow the retake for special circumstances. As for the CC, they will allow a retake.

you can retake a class 3 times in a CC! Besides, I do not think they will count your first class if you took it outside their CC.

Seeing as you're in California, I wish you the best of luck getting into community college classes that you need to retake. Maybe it's better in Norcal, but it's close to impossible down here; I don't even think some are offering summer session because of the lack of funding. Meanwhile, I tried to get into General Chemistry to boost some Bs to As, and there are like 50 people petitioning to get into a class of 40. Crazy stuff.

I am not sure you can retake at a CC. Here's why.

I'm currently at ARC, planning to go to UC Davis when I finish my prereqs. You can take a class up to three time IF YOU FAIL/WITHDRAW. That is, unless you failed the course, withdrew from it, or for some other reason were unable to complete it, then you can take it again, up to three tries. If you complete the course with a grade of a C or above, you're done. Can't take it anymore. This is how I remember it. Of course, try to get a counsellor to get some sort of exception or whatnot. Also, I'm not sure taking it at Davis affects your ability to take the same course at a CC level. I think the rule only applies within the CC system because the government foots massive amounts of the bill through the bog waiver, whereas you pay to go to UC Davis.

I have this same issue I received a C in my psychology course and at my university in california i can not re-take anything unless it is below a C, for example a C-.

I called some PT schools and asked and they said I could re-take the class at a community college in cali since I am not able to re-take the class at my university and they said they would take the higher grade...I dont know if this helps

Since you are in CA, and if you cant get a class at CC, you might want to check out Southern California University of Health Science. Their integrated program offers majority of PT pre-req classes. You can finish your class in one month, Sat-Sun, but a bit expensive. Just to give you an alternate way to get your pre-req done.
