I am a third year med student and scored a 205 on my step 1. I know it's not a good score, but I'm hoping that all is not lost. I'm a US citizen and will be a US graduate. I have not had any publications. Realistically, I will probably not honor any rotation, but I'm hoping for a few high passes. I'm not a good test taker and a major determinant of our grades in third year are shelf exams. I'll obviously try to do a lot better on step 2, but given my situation, what is the likelihood that I'll match to an IM or Peds program in NYC? Does anyone have any recommendations on which hospital I may have a chance at? I'll try to organize my subinternships accordingly. Thanks!

I think you're chances are high as long as you score well in your step 2 and get good recommendation letters in your clerkships

You didn't fail and you scored above 200. Those are both good things. No 205 isn't high and you will probably be filtered from some programs, but you still have a lot of options and ways to improve your ranking. It might be helpful for you to look at the applicant information from the 2011 Match. Here is the NRMP link. You can look at average USMLE scores for each area:
