I'm in sort of a bind. My school(UGA) has a campus at Oxford where students are taught by our native UGA professors as well as Oxford professors. You get to live in Oxford in their dorms. I think it would be an AMAZING experience. I always wanted to do abroad ever since my cousin did it in UK, and to do so at Oxford university would be the highlight of my undergrad.

But to go abroad, I can only take certain classes. Biochem, genetics, cell bio etc. I can't take physics..which is my problem.

I am currently a rising sophomore. I'll have o-chem, bio, gen chem done by the time I go abroad. I want to go for my junior year - first semester. I won't have physics done. I know some schools look down on taking pre-reqs abroad.

I would take summer classes prior to my semester abroad to make room for physics. I would then take physics my second semester - junior year and physics 2 my senior year first semester. I am already ahead, so I could technically do this.

Is it a good idea? Should I just forget about Oxford and do an abroad summer semester? While abroad, I might lose shadowing and club opportunities.

Which schools look down on this? I'd be interested to see references for this and under what circumstances, e.g. exchange programs, semesters abroad, attending an entire undergrad education abroad, etc.

What pre-reqs are you talking about, you said you're already done with everything except physics which you are saying you'd take during semesters at home. If you're referring to taking biochem which is occasionally a pre-req, at Oxford (but is actually a satellite campus on Oxford from your home school), then I hardly think this even counts as taking it abroad, and even if it did, what school would look down on a class at Oxford.

You sound as if you've already thought this out and can easily make it work, so the obvious answer is that you should do it, I would. 😎
